The Tea Cup Cats In Thing

By Marvin Ferguson

Tea cup cats may well be regarded as the latest feline lineage to gain a celebrity status in many of today's catteries. Due to the popularization of diminutive yet irresistibly cute pets by famous personalities, these specially-bred cats have instantly found an adoring public.

Take for example the celebrity sightings wherein several Hollywood A-list members are often spotted strolling around with their furry companions. After Paris Hilton's much-celebrated Chihuahua, the newest to make headlines is this teacup cat owned by Kim Kardashian. The said celebrity of reality TV fame has recently adopted a Persian teacup cat and named it Mercy (after her partner Kanye West's song). Apparently, it is the same issue that stirs the ire of animal rights campaigners. You'll know why later in this article.

Anyway, it's undoubtedly that tea cup cats are lots of fur balls that command an exorbitant cost considering their size.

They're adorable yet simply designer toys. This is actually the trouble with rare kinds of domesticated cats, getting these felines entails constant attention and care.

If you're trying to get one, you must know first what you are in for. This is not to say that tea cup cats are hard to own. You'll find things that you must understand before going with an adoption.

Characteristics of Tea Cup Cats

The original genetic makeup of a teacup cat is basically a result of years of expert breeding. Contrary to what many people think, tea cup cats are not conceived having the same attributes as their dwarf (Munchkin cat) and "miniature" cousins. They are simply bred to become much smaller than the actual breed of Persian cat-the only recognized breed from which most teacup varieties originate.

So small are the these cats that they can actually fit into average-sized cups (But then again, you may want to reconsider before trying to fit them into those beverage holders or they'll leave plenty of white hairs for your next coffee break).

Difficulties with Tea Cup Cats

Taking their diminutive size into consideration, there also goes the problems of adopting tea cup felines. Such pets are frequently vulnerable to bear certain hereditary defects. One of the health problems include growth retardation, poor muscle mass building, heart murmurs, nerve problems and-you may want to keep in mind-shorter lifespan.

Clearly, due to their small frame, "teacups" require delicate handling. Due to this , the reason why fans of tea cup cats were horrified upon seeing how Kim clutches Mercy in one hands like some designer bag. That isn't the way you should handle a cat, certainly not a Tea Cub Cat
