Bringing Photorealism Back

By Daniel Gibson

A piece of art that flies. All you need to do is go to the Kansas University Art Museum to experience photorealism which was really big during the 70s. Setting apart pigment from celluloid is something that you need to master.

When it comes to this art form, there is something involved that is referred to as a working medium. Using a canvas and some paint, they make a copy of the photograph by hand. An exhibit was specially organized by two friends, one of them a leading aviation and aerospace attorney, to showcase the paintings of 22 artists. There were diverse pieces in the collection.

There was this artist who was always into painting horses. In the painting is a woman on a horse with two of her brothers standing close one of which has a model plane in his hand. Another one has continued his series of old toys by placing a bright colored floating plane in a bathtub, and yet another has parked his car conveniently near a helicopter. There was another artist who used old toys and he had a plane on an aquarium floor.

You can see a variety of painting techniques that have been incorporated in these paintings and when you look at them, you will not immediately recognize them as painted replicates because they look like the real thing. In order to enlarge their sketches for murals, Renaissance artists resorted to the use of grids and the same concept was utilized by several artists during the show.

Another artist's air borne fighter jet is feathered with clouds. Take a closer look and you will see the expertise in presenting their art works with the use of clear, precise lines and color. Another artist, whose specialty is antique photographs, has prepared a relatively small work resembling a tinted photograph of an early American air ship.

In terms of painting a photograph, why would an artist go through all of the trouble of doing so? In this case, you can say that using a photograph depersonalizes the painting process. In this case, the translation is all up to the artist. The precision in a work of art is an important aspect of photorealism so brushes and air guns are used.

Considering photorealism, you really have to be adept. The beauty of photorealism is its ability to showcase beauty in a clear and distinct form unlike most of the abstract paintings that we have today. Since the Whitney Museum in New York exhibited the works of 22 artists, photorealistic participants were able to fuse their ideas and beliefs.

Three cheers for photorealism. An artist spends much time and effort when it comes to these pricey things. When you look at these paintings, you will be speechless. Every brush stroke was carefully applied.

Shih Tzu Dog Training - The Way To Manipulate Barking

By Caleb Carr

Shih Tzu training means controlling some behavior that's tough to get at. Excess barking might be one activity that is very hard to stop. Here's one way that will work for you and your pet.

Excess barking by any dog infrequently bothers a dog. It irritate owners and neighbors too, often almost to the breaking point. This is one of those problems that call for real planning.

Frequently the cause for the barking can be discovered with some observation and thought. It may be as easy as just isolation or boredom. In all cases, extra time spent with a dog may lead to extra quiet for you.

Remember that some dogs just bark a lot. All dogs bark, it's simply when it is going on and on that it becomes a major nerve rattler.

A method to communicate to a pet the noise is undesired with a training collar. The citronella spray collar might be the best choice. Actually preferable to an electrical collar which appears to be a really bad idea for a few reasons;

This is how a citronella collar works.

Citronella oil has this insipid sweet odor that even works as a bug repellent. Not dangerous, it definitely presents an offensive smell. I will just imagine how stinky it has got to be to dogs with smelling ability miles beyond ours.

The collar includes a sensor to detect barks, a reservoir for the oil and then a spray unit. All this fits in a tiny box with an on / off switch.

Turn it on and here is what happens. As quickly as the dog barks, the collar sprays this cloud of mist right below the dogs jaw. Not an electric shock results, it does produce a surprise that can border on shocking.

Our dog when presented with this device barked once, then a second time and then got quiet to consider the matter.

Those 2 barks were actually all it took for Belle to get the idea. Not that she ever barks now. Why she even barely wears the collar now. She quickly got the idea that excess barking was a very bad idea. So that the collar now is on reserve for an occasional reminder that barking should be done carefully.

Shih Tzu dog training regularly can profit from the use of some tools. It could be a citronella collar may be a useful tool in your box of tricks.

Destroying Ants With Natural Pesticides

By Owen Jones

Ants appear to be pretty innocuous to most people. In most temperate climates, ants do very little damage, although red ants bite people all over the planet. However, there are more serious ants in warmer countries and some of these ants can even be responsible for hospitalzations and even a few fatalities. Red ant bites itch and even hurt, but imagine a baby falling onto a red ant nest.

What if that infant fell onto a fire ant nest or a red carpenter ant nest? Carpenter ants can be an inch (25 mm) long and a bite can draw blood. There are poisonous ants in South America and exploding ants in Southeast Asia, although they will not kill humans. Soldier ants are quite frightening too. In fact, the amount of dangerous ants in the warmer countries can be worrying.

Indeed, only two weeks ago, my male dog was covered in big red welts all over his stomach and under carriage. He was obviously in a lot of pain when he walked and was off his food. It has been quite hot here in Thailand this summer because the monsoon was behind schedule, so he probably dug a shallow hole in the earth to keep cool. He was probably attacked by ants while he was napping, but could not shake them off. He was in a very bad state for three days.

Some ants are vegetarians but others will gladly eat meat, if it is available. Most ants will eat dead insects and small, dead animals. Some will also assault fit animals, including humans, if they feel threatened.

One trouble is that insects can become resistant to chemical controls and sometimes this immunity is localized, so it is better not to use chemicals if you can help it. Chemicals can also present a hazard to children, which makes storing them and using them even more dangerous.

Boric acid is a by-product of boron which is a natural product. Boric acid is extremely good at destroying insects that take food back to their colonies, so this includes ants and termites. It can be mixed with sugar and water to make it more appealing to ants or can be spread around the garden with no danger. It is risk-free to children and pets alike.

Cayenne pepper is another deterrent-cum-killer. Cultivate your own cayenne peppers, liquidize them and add to boiling water, then spray over ants and ant runs when it has chilled. It will not kill a colony, but it will stop foraging ants.

Corn meal is a method of ant and cockroach extermination. Sprinkle it about and when the insects eat it, it will expand up with their digestive juices and cause them to explode. Not very nice, but satisfying all the same.

There are other biological remedies for destroying or deterring insects too, some are favourites of one country or local people. Why don't you ask around the older people where you live and find out what their parents used to make use of to control ants and other insects the natural way?

Learning How To Train Your Puppy When Using The Dog Clicker Method

By Tye Lister Jr.

Clicker puppy training relies upon using a gadget that makes a small clicking noise, thus inducing a specific response from the puppy. The procedure will be efficient only if used in combination with the reward method. Once you click on the device, the dog does whatever you command, then gets a goody or reward of some type for that good conduct. This system bears the actual name of positive reinforcement, and has now been analyzed with close to 140 species which includes cats, dogs, whales, bears and also tigers.

Clicker puppy training is considered simply a part of the particular training of the pet, due to the fact that slowly but surely the actual clicker can be replaced by a very simple voice command such as 'sit', 'down', 'stay' or the like. Once the dogs reaction is transferred to the new cue (your own voice) then you no longer require the dog clicker. This creates an outstanding foundation of communicating, a link between the particular dog trainer or handler and the animal. Another massive benefit is that often clicker dog training cuts down on the training time frame by 30% or more.

The use of the actual dog clicker helps the particular trainer avoid audio variants. Which means that the particular accuracy within the dog's reaction is actually much higher, which in turn proves extremely handy with regard to things which need accuracy. Dog trainers typically employ their voice if the behavior they might require isn't that exact. Research indicates that tasks that have been learned through the help of the clicker are usually retained, and the canine reacts to the sounds even when the dog has not really been in practice for many years.

You don't have to buy a training clicker, any gadget which transmits a quick sound and is consistent, may be used. Even so, the theory is to keep the actual sound consistent so as not to confound your dog. For a lot of routines the actual simpleness of clicker dog training is absolutely incredible, and people receive great rewards in their partnership with their canine. Even so, lots of people don't use the dog clicker as their view is actually opinionated on account of misconceptions.

Some Information About Cushings Syndrome In Dogs

By Jill Rowan

Cushing's Syndromes or Cushing's Diseases are hormonal disorders that are caused by high cortisol levels in the patient's blood. The elevated levels can be caused by both cortisol producing tumors and by taking some medications. And apart from the condition being found equally among both genders, Cushings Disease in dogs is also fairly common.

The symptoms of the condition include hyperhidrosis, psychological disturbances, thinning of the skin, and rapid weight gain. The rapid weight gain of the patient typically leads to the thinning and stretching of the skin, which leads to significant capillary damage and bruising in turn.

Most of the time, a dog that comes down with Cushings is considerably more able to get Diabetes and urinary tract infections. Many of the previously mentioned symptoms are occasionally mistaken for the process of aging since the ailments are more common among old dogs.

If any of the previous mentioned symptoms are observed or suspected, the canine in question should be immediately evaluated by his or her veterinarian. The physician will perform blood work and x-rays on the pet as well as CT scan to confirm the presence of a pituitary tumor.

After the pet has been diagnosed with Cushings Disease, its care both is based on the kind of Cushings it has and the human's personal views about treatment. No matter how cherished the sick dog is, if it's quite old or in bad health, the owner might decide to make the hard decision to skip treatment and opt for early euthanasia instead.

Surgery is required in most cases to remove the adrenal tumors in the canine. Generally, a dog who undergoes the procedure has a fairly good prognosis and these growth types rarely return. An animal with Cushing's that has a pituitary tumor is often given daily hormones which usually work but do cause side effects.
