The best way to buy a Teacup Chihuahua

By Markus Lounds

The term teacup Chihuahua is objected to by many different breeders, especially Chihuahua breeders. This is because of the fact that there is really no such thing as a teacup Chihuahua, at least there is no separate teacup Chihuahua breed.

There can be so many smaller versions of Chihuahua, which can be labeled and described as tiny, toy, miniature or teacup Chihuahua. A Chihuahua is very small in size, and some people seem to capitalize on this fact, especially in cases where there is a very small puppy in a litter, and label it as a teacup Chihuahua or a miniature Chihuahua or a toy Chihuahua to sell it at a much higher price than it is worth.

Terms such as miniature, toy or teacup Chihuahua may are generally used to fool unsuspecting people, who are looking at buying a Chihuahua puppy, into buying the dog at a much higher price than normal. It is advised that all prospective dog owners try to find out as much as they can regarding Chihuahuas before starting to look around.

If on the other hand you have some information about dogs, Chihuahua in general, and you are looking for a small sized Chihuahua, or what you call a teacup Chihuahua, then the label may not pose any kind of problems for you, as long as you understand what you are getting yourself into.

A Chihuahua, is a Chihuahua whether it is being called a toy Chihuahua or a teacup Chihuahua, and it is going to have the same characteristics and tendencies as a normal Chihuahua. Questions such as how it was bred, what is its size and is it a purebred may come in the equation but maybe not all at once.

One thing is for sure that if you are buying your Chihuahua from a respected and reputed Chihuahua breeder then you need not worry about haggling the price down to a manageable level even if you were informed that you are buying a teacup Chihuahua.

Another advantage of using a reputed breeder is that you need not worry about the conditions in which the puppy was bred, or what health issues or genetic flaws are carried by the Chihuahua. All the information that you need would be provided by a Chihuahua breeder.

Another thing that you need to understand is that going to a reputed Chihuahua breeder has many ore advantages than what have been already mentioned. For example you can get ample advice from your Chihuahua breeder on how to raise and nurture a Chihuahua puppy and in case you have got a small, teacup Chihuahua, the breeder will inform you what needs to be done to handle this seemingly fragile and delicate dog.

You and your puppy would get along just fine as long you understand that your teacup Chihuahua is not a different Chihuahua breed but only a smaller version of the breed.
