The second most popular subject for photography are pets. Using these tips can help you click the best pictures of your pets. Good pictures are achievable by using practically any lens, however waste of use comes by using a long range telephoto lens of 80 to 200mm size.

When using a telephoto lens it is possible to stand at a distance far away that the pet does not scare off. A pet would act his natural best if it is unaware of what is being done by you. You can get a great picture of your pet by clicking from his level. A good picture would be possible by getting down on our knees and hands since most pets are smaller than us. But the results will be worth it particularly if you can get your pet to look straight into the lens.

You can click a photograph of your pet only if you are quick and ready It is possible to be ready for the shot by having the focus already set and the exposure pre-set. You must not recheck the focus and exposure after that.

It is easier to get the correct exposure during pet photography. Utilize the light meter's recommendation or use the camera on auto mode. Bracketing the exposure is the only option when clicking a very dark or a white animal.

While photographing a white pet it is best to open up one or two f stops after taking the meter reading. On the other hand, if your pet is very dark, you can close down one or two f stops to be sure that you capture the dark color correctly.

When we spoke of the importance of pre focusing the lens, we did not mention the item to focus on, the answer is simple. Getting the pet's eye in focus would take away the attention from the focusing on the rest of the pet. Having the eye in focus is important to make sure the picture stays appealing.

A highlight in the eye is what needs to be clicked in a pet having dark fur or feathers. Switching on a light can achieve this effect just as good as turning the pet's face towards the sun. A good pet photography can be achieved by looking out for the background. Pets should be positioned in front of a plain background. Using a less cluttered background helps get a picture with the pet standing out.

It is a good idea to have a friend around as you click your pet. Good pictures of your pet would be possible when your friend has it distracted. A pet that is curious in nature and looks around to find what you are doing can be clicked like this. A lot of patience along with these tips would ensure great pictures of your pet.
