Why Choose Quality Cat Furniture

By Robert Baker

Responsible owners provide quality cat furniture for the well-being of their feline companions. Cats nap 16 hours a day so comfortable beds are a necessity. When cats are awake, they love to playing and climbing. Furniture must be sturdy and safe.

Cat scratching posts can be part of a tree with perches, ramps, and hideaway napping spaces. Large trees with many napping enclosures are called cat condos. Cat gyms are for play time with lots of tunnels, ramps and toys. Look for heavy wood construction with a wide base so the furniture won't tip over. Carpeting should be stain resistant, stapled in place not glued. Hanging toys should be designed to snap off if the cat should be accidentally entangled.

Cat perches on a windowsill are a favorite on sunny days. It should be be strong enough to safely hold the cat's weight. Thermal cat beds conserve body heat and reflect it back for a warm, cozy nap. Older or ill cats might need a heated cat bed providing constant room temperature heat. Some have a sensor that warms the bed when the cat's presence is detected. All beds should be easy to clean and made from fire retardant materials.

Self-cleaning litter boxes make cleaning easy. After the cat leaves the box, a rake pushes the waste into a tray for simple disposal, no litter scoop required. Another first class choice is a litter cabinet, an end table hiding a litter box within. It should be made of wood with easy side door access for the cat. The top should lift open for easy cleaning access with an out-of-sight place for storing cleaning supplies.

Cats like fresh air but must be kept safe. Enclosures come in many styles, fixed, freestanding, portable, or attached to a window frame. Some allow access via a cat door. Be sure locks are secure. A roof is necessary to contain these curious escape artists.

Other first class cat supplies include cat watering fountains, automatic feeders, and battery operated toys and laser lights for cats to chase. Quality cat furniture will be durable, safe, and fun for cats.
