Labradoodles In Maine Are Ideal For Allergy Sufferers

By Tisha Vaughan

Labradoodles Maine were first bred in Australia in 1988 or 1989 by breeder Wally Conron after crossing a Labrador Retriever with a standard poodle. This created a canine with a hypoallergenic coat offering little to no shedding. They also exhibit favorable qualities whether they serve as a guide or therapy dog or a treasured member of the family.

Their high intelligence makes them easy to train, and it is necessary to keep them mentally and physically challenged to prevent boredom. They are very sociable but also enjoy cuddling with their owners for some quality quiet time.

The standard size is twenty three to twenty six inches tall with the females weighing forty five to sixty pounds. Males generally weigh fifty five to seventy three pounds. Medium animals are eighteen to twenty one inches tall with females weighing forty to fifty five pounds. Miniatures stand fourteen to seventeen inches tall with the females weighing twenty six to fifty five pounds. Males also generally weigh more than females in these last two classes.

This breed is preferred by those suffering from allergies thanks to minimal shedding and odor even after contact with water. They can have a thick wool-like coat like a poodle or Labrador hair that is curly, wavy, or straight. There is also fleece-like fur that is soft to the touch. Just as with poodles, common colors are cream, silver, chalk, brown, and black. Gold, apricot, and red are other favorites but not as commonplace.

There are some health conditions that this breed may experience due to their parentage. Hip dysplasia affects the hip sockets and could cause painful arthritis or limited mobility. Progressive Retinal Atrophy may result in blindness, and Addison's Disease is a result of low steroid hormone production.

Labradoodles Maine easily adapt to any type of climate. They live between thirteen and fifteen years and offer nothing but faithfulness and love wherever they abide. Read more about: labradoodles maine
