Housebreaking Equipment for Puppies

By Dirk Gruenberg

The appearance of a new puppy is a big event in every household. So, not surprisingly, most things that make life with a puppy easier are in place. But do not forget that house training is one of the first tasks and need to have the necessary tools and supplies ready.

Many dog owners have worries about getting their pup house trained. But with the right tools and supplies it can be easy. Here is what you need: a gate and a crate. Without these tools you make it more complicated than it really is.

Puppies normally can't wait to be taken out if they feel the need to relieve themselves. This happens many times not only throughout the day but also at night.

The first step is to get a crate for your new dog. He will consider it as the place where he is sleeping and unless he absolutely can't hold it, he will not soil this place. In order to enable him not to, you have to take him out very frequently.

There are times when your pup is not in his crate but in the kitchen or another room with you. Even if you can watch him it may still be a good idea to have a gate blocking him from leaving this room.

No matter how frequently you take your pup out, accidents will occur. Be aware that your pup does not do this intentionally. So never be angry at him or even punish him. You should have dog-friendly cleaning products at hand and just clean up the mess.

These cleaning supplies help not only sanitize but they assist in removing odors, so your dog isn't inclined to use that same area of the house for his next accident.

Finally, a dog collar, leash and puppy treats are the puppy house training supplies that will help you start actually training your dog how to go potty.

Your puppy loves to be praised by you as well as get a tasty biscuit as a reward. So put him on the leash and take him to the place you want him to use as his bathroom. As soon as he has completed his business praise and reward him. In a very short period of time, your puppy will understand what you want him to do and he will happily do so.
