Our ancestors knew the right way to co-exist with animals. They took only nearly as much was required, never wasting resources. Modern man has produced machines with sole aim of exploiting natural resources. In our greed for much more and more we certainly have destroyed beautiful forests that were home to countless types of birds and animals. With nowhere to look along with their habitat depleting many of the little animals died, their death causes a cascading impact on animals that kill them. Without any food to consume the bigger animals die as a result of starvation.
A few of these animals in their seek out food enter human settlements where if spotted are brutally killed by humans. Some of them die as a consequence of poisoning when they go through garbage and eat something they are not supposed to be eating.
The pollution owing to industries and construction sites have changed environmental surroundings drastically. Water pollution attributable to discharge of toxic effluents in water bodies has led to direct poisoning of fish and increase in temperature of water killing little organisms that work as food for other aquatic animals. Not forgetting rendering the water body useless to be used as drinking water. Air pollution has led to boost in temperatures and melting of ice in Polar Regions. It is estimated that by 2015 the whole North Pole may be free from ice. Where does that leave animals like polar bears to move?
Many animals are killed just for their fur. Alligators are killed for their skin, tigers for their bones and sharks for their fins. Majestic mammals like whales are mercilessly killed mainly for meat. Animals are kept in inhumane conditions and used as test subjects in laboratories.
Approximately daily there are several types of animals which can be driven to extinction by our selfish actions. Once an animal is extinct it truly is gone forever all of our science and genetic discoveries cannot bring them back. The future generations will never be able to see these animals ever again. They would only learn about it and see their pictures in books.
Man is required to realize that we did not inherit the planet from our ancestors, however we have now borrowed it from the children. Immediate steps should be taken to protect the eco system that sustains these beautiful animals. We must stop exploiting forests and instead find replacement to those resources. Direct killing of animals has to stop too. Animals are living beings too and feel pain. Being essentially the most intelligent beings in the world comes with the responsibility of protecting these animals that need our help.
