Several medications may have to be tried before you find one that works for you. One of the advantages of OTC remedies is that they are relatively inexpensive. If there is no releif after a few days you should see your doctor.

One treatment that will probably be saved for the very last effort is laser treatment. As you can imagine, it's really only for the most severe cases of this condition. After all that suffering, when this procedure is done it is extremely short, lasting about fifteen minutes, and the recovery time is usually about one day. This is considered advanced, and it tends to be expensive; but your insurance should cover it. Nothing wrong with bringing it up with your doctor, but you may discover your doctor won't recommend it until much later after all else has failed to produce positive results.

If you're fast about it, it's very likely that you can get fast relief from a variety of different methods. If something is not effective or to your liking, then by all means switch to another treatment method. There's really no good reason why you need to endure the pain and discomfort of hemorrhoids considering all the different treatments available.
