How To Make Italian Greyhound Training Fun

By Angela Wade

It is okay to be caught up on ideas on how to train your Italian Greyhound. Italian Greyhound training doesn't take place right away and there are numerous bumps on the road. Overcome your fears and anxieties by educating yourself on how to achieve success in training your four-legged pet. This article provides you with a few ideas that can help you make training more fun for you and your canine pet.

Ensure that your training efforts are well suited for your canine pet and that your rewards are right for his size and personality. A few training approaches advise that you give your pet dog a treat every time he performs the task. If you do, he'll come to expect the treat each time and when you stop with the treats, the obedience halts as well. Rather, give the dog a treat randomly to ensure that he won't start to expect when he gets a treat. Moreover, it makes training more fun since he has to guess whether or not he will get a treat.

Your home should not be like doggy prison. Your pet ought to have a multitude of social interactions daily including Italian Greyhound training. This will ensure he'll still blossom as a social animal and he will manage to use up some of his energy meeting all these exciting new people and dogs. You'll both enjoy the experience.

If you're tired of the commands your four-legged pet already understands, try spicing up an old behavior. A fun trick is teaching your canine friend to give either paw when asked. You can teach this a few methods but try picking up the corresponding paw to your hand and treating and praising. When your dog gets the idea, treat and praise for successful raising of the right paw.

Teaching your pet dog fun trick like "play dead" can be a fun way of distracting him. When your dog's behavior is inappropriate, simply use the command you have established for his trick instead of using negative punishment. This provides for a fun activity for your canine and creates a positive environment for you too.

Effective Italian Greyhound training is not about punishing your four-legged companion to get him to do what you need. Training is all about positive reinforcement to help your canine pet understand how to work with humans. Making behavior training fun and exciting for your canine, will go much further than punishment does.
