Caring For Your Cockapoo Puppies

By Tameka Ware

There are different breeds of dogs that you can choose from if you wish to get yourself one of these beloved furry animals. If you are into small and furry dogs, your best option is to get cockapoo puppies. This breed is a cross between a cocker spaniel and a poodle. Since it is a cross breed, the puppy may differ in size and appearance. Cockapoos usually have shiny fur that can be wavy or curly.

If you are going to get yourself a puppy, you should be aware of the different responsibilities that you have. Caring for a puppy is just like taking care of your own child. What kind of dog it will become will depend on the way the owner was able to care for it. If you want to make sure that the puppy will grow up healthy and well mannered, you must be able to provide it with all of the things that it will need.

One of the things that your puppy needs is good nutrition. Just like babies and children, they need nourishment as they grow up. Feed them with something that have the necessary nutrients. To be sure, talk to your veterinarian about it. Any problem with his bowel movement should be reported for this might have something to do with its diet.

It is the owner's responsibility to make sure that his puppy will receive all his immunizations especially during his first year. Puppies need to be immunized for they are susceptible to contract fatal diseases. You need to protect your puppy from having heartworms or from contracting the parvovirus.

Your other responsibility is to keep your puppy clean through bathing and proper grooming. Dogs such as cockapoos have hair that needs to be maintained to maintain its shine. It has to be bathed regularly to prevent the build up of dirt on its coat. Brushing and combing keeps the coat shiny and removes any dirt that has clung to it.

Socialization is another thing that all dogs need. Dogs needs to be socialized as early as possible so they will be well behaved when you will take them outside. A puppy that has not been properly socialized tends to bite, snarl, or become scared when around other dogs and their owners. It is best to introduce them to others frequently.

It is normal for a puppy to bite while playing or if it is teething. However, the owner should not encourage this behavior. He has to show to his puppy that the behavior is not good. Verbal reprimand and not giving your hand or foot helps. The behavior should be discouraged before it will become a habit the puppy will take with him until adulthood.

Potty training is also another thing owners need to deal with when they will get a new puppy. This can be quite challenging if you have a cockapoo since their bladder is small. In this stage, always be patient and never punish or hurt the puppy.

If you have cockapoo puppies, do your best to care for them. Rearing a puppy is a lot of hard work but all the effort is worth it. Always remember that you are the one responsible for their well being.
