Warts Laser Treatment Is Utilized For Severe Cases

By Tanisha Berg

Having symptoms of having several cauliflower or solid blister-like warts is called verrucose. To get rid of more severe cases of this, you can seek warts laser treatment. These lumps are usually located on hands or feet, and are caused normally by one of the many types of different human papilloma viruses.

The most commonly occurring wart out of the 10 varieties is usually the most harmless as well. Due to the infection, these swellings are contagious and can enter the body through an open wound or broken skin. They can also go away after a few months, but can reoccur. Some also last for years before they disappear.

These growth can come in various shapes and areas where they occur. However, all are caused by the different types of the human papilloma virus, which infect the squamous epithelium tissues of skin of genitals. There are about 130 different types of HPV, and the area of the body that is infected depends on the different types of the virus.

The most common HPV varieties that cause infectious warts and papilloma in some areas are usually benign. They also show common characteristics when you look at them through a microscope. You might see hyperkeratosis, acanthosis, thickening of the stratum granulosum, evidence of large blood vessels at the dermoepidermal junction, and rete ridge elongation as well.

There are a lot of different ways to treat and remove wart growths. Doctor's offices or clinics might suggest laser surgery, where the wart tissue is burned and destroyed by a strong light beam or laser. There is a complicating factor, however, seeing that the growths could come back in that area even after surgery.

Depending on the size of the wart clusters and the area that needs to be treated, the doctor might apply a local or general anesthetic. The wound will probably be a bit painful for a couple of days after the surgery. However, the overall recovery time really depends on the area as well as the number of infections being treated.

If after surgery you have bleeding lasting more than a week, fever, bad-smelling, severe pain, or yellowish discharge; call your doctor. This might indicate that you have an infection in the area. You should also regularly clean the wound to prevent any infection.

Laser surgery is usually the last resort, and it is important to know when it is needed. It's taken when the general medication does not help removing the warts, if these swellings are widespread and large in size, or if you are pregnant. If you are indeed pregnant, ask your doctor whether it is necessary to have surgery to remove your warts.

There are some risks of infection for wart removal surgery. Look out for any signs of infection during your recovery such as increased amounts of pain, tenderness, excessive heat, swelling or redness, red streaks, discharge of pus, or fever that reaches past 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Other cons of laser surgery include expensive treatment and the fact that it is extreme enough to be the last choice for wart removal. However, the positive aspect about this procedure is that it requires only a local anesthetic and usually does not cause and latent scarring.
