About Yellow Labrador Puppies For Sale In Ohio

By Kerri Stout

Labrador retrievers are probably the most popular of all dog breeds. These playful, loyal, attentive and athletic dogs are highly intelligent, clever and caring, beautiful, great with children and especially easy to train. You will probably find numerous kennels offering Yellow Labrador puppies for sale in Ohio, thanks to this wide popularity of the breed, but you can also find them online.

A foundational dog of today's numerous Labrador lineages was Buccleuch Avon. At first, these dogs were all black, with thin, but strong bodies and short and smooth hair. This amazing breed has so many qualities that it is no wonder that it became instantly popular. Fast, clever, attractive, with great sense of smell and incredibly useful, these dogs really are special.

In time, in some litters there were different colored puppies. Careful selective breeding resulted with three basic color varieties known today. The first officially recognized yellow Lab was born in 1899. This dog was dark golden, and his name was Ben of Hyde. Continued selective breeding produced lighter nuances, and now you can buy almost perfectly white Labradors.

Typically, they weigh up to eighty pounds, although they can have over one hundred pounds sometimes, at least males. Females are lighter and smaller, but not significantly. There are two basic types, English and American Lab. Both are really popular and bred not only in these two countries, but all over the world.

English type is stronger, calmer and heavier, while the American is lighter framed and faster. English type has broad face, and American type has a little bit longer nose. They are equally beautiful, clever and easy trainable, great with kids and simply perfect companions. American type is perhaps more suitable for more active people, because he needs more exercise.

Labrador's hair is short and smooth. This breed usually sheds twice a year, with higher or lower intensity, depending on the particular dog. The tail is strong and broad. They have webbing between their toes, to protect them from cold. They adore swimming and their thick coats provide very good protection, thanks to their water resistance.

Labrador retrievers are registered in three colors, black, chocolate and yellow. Theoretically, there is always a possibility for having puppies of all colors in the same litter, but something like that rarely happens. Although colors depend on three special genes, a dog with E allele recessive gene will always be yellow. The colors vary from white to golden, and sometimes even fox red.

Yellow Labs have one very rare variety called Dudley. These dogs have pink noses pigmented with black or brown spots, and the same color around their eyes. Careful breeding can produce some special qualities, but it is still possible that some recessive gene appears after several generations.

Labradors are especially intelligent, playful and affectionate, extremely beautiful dogs. They are great in all their activities and make perfect family dogs. They adore children and make great friend for them. It is really easy to teach them new things, and that's why people often use them as guide dogs.
