The Nigerian Dwarf is a miniature goat breed. They come in multiple colors, black, white, cream, gold, and red and have different patterns as well. Many are head over heels with this adorable breed because of its size, they have almost the same size to a golden retriever. And, they could be the perfect size for you.

One of the reasons why breeders choice is a Nigerian dwarf is because of its personality. They are gentle and intelligent which makes it easy to take care of them. Goat belongs to a herd of animals that is why they need to have a companion always with them. So, if you are planning to buy, do not settle for one only and go for at least two as they tend to get lonely which could cause to sadness. For its food which is the most important for these goats to live and grow there are many types of food that you may feed them. Two of the most recommended are the alfalfa mix and the eastern grass hay. But, if you have an older wether or buck with you, do not feed it with the alfalfa as it could get a urinary calculi.

For goats aging up to twelve months, calf manna, barley, and corn outs are the recommended on what they should be eating. There are still other foods to give them and you may do some research on that. Now for the hay which is often fed to them, fresh ones are the best and contains more vitamins that could help in their growth.

These dwarf goats must not only stay on the field, they should be provided with a shelter as well. A place where they can hang out if the weather is too hot and especially during winter so that they will be warm and comfortable. Before winter arrives you must prepare its shelter for them to stay until it lasts.

During winters, they will be always staying on their shelters. So, make sure that proper ventilation is implemented, so they can breathe without problem. And, be sure that there are tons of hay inside of it as it will not only serve as their food but their blankets as well to keep them warm and cozy.

Due to being enclosed dirt and dust would gather up inside the shelters. This could lead to bacteria present on the inside and could target easily the young ones. Cleaning the insides every day is one way of making sure that you will avoid such circumstances and to get rid of possible diseases.

You do not need a very big space with lots of green pasture to raise a goat. You would only need a space big enough for them. If there are less or no grass at all. Then, you can simply buy it from markets near you or any other places. This along with proper care and health supplies is what you only need in taking care of them.
