Unlike other cats, this breed has long waterproof fur. This is mainly because of its origin, which is the cold temperate climate of Russia. It is naturally designed to help keep the animal dry even during the winter season. During the cold season, the coat is triple dense but it is shorter in summer. Hence, they are categorized as a semi-longhair breed.

This breed has a warm personality. It's a very friendly cat that can make a good family pet. You don't have to worry about leaving it at home with you young kids because it has such a lovely personality. The cat plays a lot and can be engaged in activities such as fetch which many cat breeds cannot do. However, you should know that it can be clingy and will want to stick around the owner always.

However, these cats are also relatively quiet. They will not be noisy around the house and they can go unnoticed. They express themselves through chirps, mews, trills, and deep purring. On the other side, they also like water so be prepared to get wet. Remember that they have a waterproof coat.

The temperament of the Siberian is also quite good. This breed is fearless and naturally calm. However, they are also gentle and friendly. As soon as you buy one, you'll notice that they have sweet facial expressions. Therefore, this makes them a good pet if you're looking for something for your child. They're not known to be aggressive and your kids will be safe.

They also love playing a lot. If you have toys around, that is a good thing and if not, you should think of buying some. The kittens will be attracted to moving things and a variety of toys. They are also very compassionate companions. If you need some moral support, you will see it coming and cuddling around your feet.

When it comes to weight, they are also on a league of their own. The males weigh a maximum of 20 lbs. While the females stand at 15 lbs. However, they can attain a maximum weight of 25 lbs. Depending on the conditions. This breed is also shorter and stockier than other breeds, as you will notice.

Siberian cats have all color combinations. Well, not literally but they have quite a variety of colors. Therefore, if you're someone who likes to have something unique, you can always find one with quite apart and you'll all find elsewhere. In general, however, they come with white markings but can be color-pointed. They can come in black, white, blue, and other colors.

Grooming the cat is quite easy. The coat does not tangle or mat. Therefore, you just have to spare a few minutes every week for grooming.

This breed is healthy and hardy in general. However, all breeds have certain health complications. Siberians, however, have quite a wide genetic diversity, making them less prone to problems of inbreeding.
