How To Properly Deal With Separation Anxiety For Dogs

By Jeffrey Edwards

It can be very telling that the greatest example of mutual interspecies relationship is that between dogs and humans. In fact, this relationship has spiraled well out control to the point that some dogs expressly cant live without their human best friends. Separation Anxiety for Dogs in Los Angeles is one such phenomenon that drives home this point.

Its saying something about the human and dog bond that they are mutually attached to one another. Humans professedly love their mutts, and miss them when theyre away for some time. However, its usually not to the point of being deeply wrecked and neurotic, as is the wont of some dogs.

It must be because we have a lot of things going on and around for us. However, for our pets, were literally the sun in which their furry ball of earth revolves around. They therefore have nothing better else to do than want to spend all their long dog days with us. Which is not always a good case.

Well, most of the time. Its not always that we understand how these beloved pooches act the way they do. Separation anxiety, for example, can be a something we can neither make heads nor tails of. They can get us in a tizzy, wondering whether its the real deal or simply contrived behavior.

That can be cute at the beginning. But when the pooch has been too clingy to the point that youre actually worried about leaving him alone at home because of what he can wind up doing, then thats already a problem. After all, you are concerned of your dog so much and are aware that pets who have separation anxiety wind up not only damaging your property but also injuring and harming themselves.

If youre thinking that your pet probably has separation anxiety, you must have tried being overwhelmed by his symptoms. Examples are vocalizations such as barking, whining, and howling. He may also have indulged in destructive activities, such as gouging the walls, digging the floors, and scratching windows and doors in an attempt to escape from the room. He may chew on certain items and destroy other properties, and engage in irresponsible activities not usual for a house trained dog such as urinating or defecating inside the house or just about anywhere.

Indeed, the criminal, a furry ball of energy, is already barraging his way towards you. Hes beside himself with glee at your return. Youre not in the mood for coddling and petting, though, since youre angling to reprimand this delinquent for all the damage he has done.

However, true blue cases of separation anxiety have resulted in dangerous self injuries that poorly compromise your beloved pets health. You must not wait for recurring episodes replete with scraped nails, broken teeth, and bloodied paws that greatly endanger your much loved dog. Treatments range from counter conditioning, in which you gradually accustom your pet to normalize your absence. You may also leave toys and treats to busy himself with, or else take him out on an exercise, since a tired pooch is not likely to take your room by storm. If still not viable, your vet may recommend some anti anxiety medication.

Its natural for dogs to express their anxiety in separations. After all, theyre extremely social animals with a hyperactive compass for love and affection for their owner. However, this shouldnt stretch to the point where they inconvenience us and make us worry about their well being and safety. We should prove our love and loyalty is commensurate with theirs by sticking with them in a very trying time.
