Organic CBD Oil For Dogs And Cats

Taking care of health needs is often the number one priority of good pet owners. In doing so, these individuals need to have a clear understanding of what edibles and medications are appropriate for different types of pets. With new products such as Organic CBD Oil For Dogs, edibles and sprays hitting pet and other stores around the world, it is even more so.

As with all medications for pets, separating fact from fiction is essential in guaranteeing the safety of treatment. As a method of assisting pet owners better understand the facts about CBD oil and other products, the American Kennel Association's top veterinarian has provided an explanation as to the properties, drawbacks and benefits of the product as it relates to dogs.

CBD is a compound found in cannabis and hemp plants. While this is the case, CBD products do not contain THC, though when processed in the same facility as medical marijuana or recreational marijuana, there can often be trace amounts. CBD is derived from hemp, not marijuana so users do not experience the same high as those whom eat edibles, smoke or vape pot, or consume other products containing high levels of THC.

While no studies have been completed to date as to how CBD effects animals, researchers and scientists have now discovered how the product interacts with endo-cannabinoid receptors in the central nervous system. As a result, the product is now being used to balance body, mind and spirit while also working to keep all aspects of the body in good working order.

While there has been no official scientific evidence established as to how the product effects animals, pet owners claim the product has shown to ease pain, control seizures and calm anxiety in dogs, cats and other pets. As such, it appears the effects are basically the same in most pets as humans.

As CBD has also been known to have heart healthy benefits, calm anxiety, lower blood pressure, ease nausea and kill cancer cells, some are calling it a wonder drug. At the same time, there has been no conclusive proof with regards to this being the case. Still, those whom have, or are using the product whether personally or for pets have confirmed seeing these benefits first hand.

The AKC in conjunction with the Colorado State University's College of Veterinary Medicine is now undertaking a study as to the positive and negative effects CBD has on epilepsy in dogs. Researchers hope the study will be the first to prove CBD successful in this endeavor.

Just as there have been no proof of benefits, there have been even fewer studies with regards to side effects or drug interactions. Although, based on current findings of how CBD oil effects humans, while there is potential for side effects, most are common with regards to uses for CBD. For example, there is a calming effect which has the potential to lower blood pressure and cause drowsiness. As such, if an individual takes more than the recommended dosage, it could lead to long periods of drowsiness or sleep.
