The 4 Family Recommended Dogs

By Robin Setser

To say that dogs come in different breeds would be something of an understatement. What you may not know - and any long-time pet owner will agree - is that certain breeds work better with family life than others. It comes down to the traits that they possess as animals. For families that are looking to bring dogs into their homes, here are 4 of the ideal canines in question that should be considered.

Golden Retriever - When people think of family dogs, more often than not they think of Golden Retrievers. They seem to be among the easiest to train and the fact that they are friendly by nature makes them even better. As a matter of fact, their calm temperament is one of their most valuable traits. Of course, this is just one of many dog breeds that companies like Assisi Animal Health will be able to recommend.

Beagle - One of the smaller breeds on this list, Beagles are nothing short of ideal for family life. For those who do not know, Beagles are known for being energetic, which makes playtime all the more enjoyable. They will be able to stay active and the fact that you can gain some exercise as well makes the aforementioned playtime even better. Simply put, these floppy-eared canines make for the best family pets.

English Bulldog - While English Bulldogs seem funny on the surface, they are still nothing short of loving. Much like the Golden Retrievers discussed earlier, English Bulldogs are known for their even temperaments, allowing them to work well with children. What you should also know about these dogs is that they are physically strong. This probably goes without saying, though, given their stocky bodies and thicker limbs.

Bernese Mountain Dog - Another large breed is the Bernese Mountain Dog, which originated from Switzerland. Like most family dogs, this particular breed is calm, all the while vigilant. After all, it can be quite protective when it comes to its pack, or family in this case. What many people don't know about Bernese Mountain Dogs is that they are surprisingly shy. With enough bonding time, though, your pet will become more comfortable with you.
