By Michael Howard

There is no greater joy as to having a pet in your life, and you may have decided on getting one. Your interest might have been piqued when you saw a labradoodles for sale Illinois sign earlier and are raring to go get one. Before you do so, it might be a good idea to finish off this article first.

This breed is still pretty nascent when compared to other dog breeds in the world today, having only first appeared in 1988. Thus due to its fairly young age, it is still very doubtful that it will acquire its own breed status any time soon as reflected in both local and international registries.

The hybrid mix is derived from that of the Newfoundland Labrador and that of the French and German poodle. The former had been bred specifically to retrieve or get back goods and items that fall over fishing boats, while the latter had been bred and developed for herding and guarding purposes. Both breeds are also being developed to be sporting ones, amidst mixed reactions and emotions, as they are primarily working dogs.

Temperament wise, there is still no universally accepted baseline temperament due to the fairly young age of the breed. It can be generally said however, that it has a very enthusiastic personality and that it is always eager to please its owner all the time. They are also very energetic and will require some space to move around in.

As with any other dog or pet, a regular trip to the vet is something that should be done. It is a dog breed that should not give you any problems outright when it is young, as it has a very robust health. Once it gets older however, it will develop hip and joint problems.

Should you have a mind to getting a dog of this breed, then you should be aware of the two kinds of coats that it will usually have. One type of coat is more fleece like and is thinner and less wavy. This coat is prone to matting and tangling and needs to be brushed daily. The other coat is more woolly and thick, and is also more wavy. This kind of coat will need full grooming at least once a year at least.

This dog will require a lot of proteins and fats to keep its energy going, most likely due to the fact that it is a product of two very distinct working dogs. It can source these fats and proteins mostly from animal sources, chicken being the most popular. You can also provide it alternate sources such as grains and plants as recommended by your veterinarian. It should never be exposed to cherries, grapes, and chocolates.

In sum this short article has given some insights on this breed that you should consider prior to your purchase. It may also be of much help for you to research into upkeep and pricing considerations should you be so inclined. Always remember to arm yourself fully with information so as to always make an informed decision.
