The Best Buying Tips For Australian Labradoodles

By Sandra Roberts

All dog breeds have the potential of developing genetic health issues regardless of whether they are purebreds, mixes, or crossbreeds. In this, Australian labradoodles are no exceptions. This is why avoiding breeders who provide no guarantee on their dogs is very crucial. Such people are usually in the habit of making some unconfirmed claims. Before a purchase is made, a person should ask to be shown the health certificates of the puppy.

An honest breeder will be glad to share any health concerns with their clients. They will explain the kind of diseases that are likely to occur in their lines and the rate at which they occur. This gives the buyer room to make an informed decision. If the chances of certain genetic diseases occurring are low, one may still go ahead and buy the puppies. That however, should be done after testing has been done.

Labradoodles are vulnerable to health issues from both parents since they are hybrid dogs. This means that health problems affecting the Labrador retriever, standard doodles and miniature doodles can also affect them. On the other hand, there is a possibility for Labradoodles to have low chances of acquiring genetic diseases because of genetic diversity from mixing the genes of both parents.

Genetic health conditions can be detected in puppies but it is not always possible. There are certain conditions that are only detectable after the puppy is fully grown. In such a situation, the buyer depends on the generosity of the breeder. On the other hand, this can be avoided if the breeder is able to produce health certificates for the parent and the grandparent dogs of the puppy.

Certain diseases usually run in certain lines of dogs. That means that if the parents and grandparents of the puppies do not have certain inherited diseases, then chances of descendants being free of the same diseases are high. The health certificates of the parent dogs should be obtained from reputable registries such as the Canine Registry Foundation and the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals among others.

There are scrupulous breeders who go to such great lengths to lie to buyers who may not be suspecting anything. They conjure stories in their attempts to convince buyers why testing is not required. Some even claim that they have never encountered genetic issues in their entire lines of dogs, hence testing is not a necessity. Others provide certificates issued by veterinarians as proof. These are the kind of people to be avoided with immediate effect.

Dogs not only die from health issues but also problems caused by man. For example, a number of health issues can result from obesity and lead to death of puppies and adult dogs. A dog with obesity does not usually live its life to the fullest. For this reason one is advised to watch out how they feed their dog. There are healthy formulas that one can acquire from the market.

For better health and proper health, everyday exercise is compulsory. Since they are an active breed, they have to be exercised every day. For strong and fit bones, they must be walked daily. On daily basis, they must be released into the yard to exercise and run about on their own.
