All Information About Sinusitis Treatment

By Blondell Wahba

Sinusitis is not a rare condition. In fact, a lot of people in the universe has this. This condition is often referred to as nasal congestion since the condition will only emerge whenever an inflammation in the nasal sinuses occurs. This happens when a person has allergies and infections to some bacteria and viruses. The treatment for normal sinuses will last for only about five to ten days but if the symptoms will continue to manifest longer, then most likely, there are some complications that need to be addressed by a medical doctor. There are several sinusitis treatment available for this, both medical and natural, but it is still up to the advice of the physician as to what treatment to take.

Sinusitis can be acute or chronic. The first type will last at most one month but the latter will last even longer. It will not be so easy to differentiate the two since the symptoms are very similar. This is why the need for proper diagnosis and medical tests is addressed in order to confirm the type.

Acute sinusitis normally happens after an upper respiratory tract infection which is generally caused by a virus. In other cases, the causative agent could be fungus and this infection is usually seen in diabetic patients. This one is life threatening and thus needs immediate treatment. Other causes include chemical irritation such as the smoke in cigarettes and other fumes.

The other type which is chronic can last more that three months and the basic symptoms include dizziness, facial pain, coughing, aching teeth, and headache. This type normally precipitates from various diseases with sinusitis as a symptom.

Currently, there is a growing debate on the role of a fungus in chronic nasal congestion. Fungi are found in the nasal cavities of both healthy people and people with sinuses. This is the why, up to present, it is still unclear if fungus is really one factor that helps in the development of chronic sinusitis.

The signs and symptoms including facial pain is common to both types. The pain typically begins at one side of your head then progresses to the all sides. The nasal discharge is green in color and may contain pus or blood. Most often, the patient suffers from a localized headache and tooth ache.

There are other possible infections that could occur. This will include infections in the inner ear and eye socket that often leads to blindness. When a person has this infection, fever and diseases will continue to manifest until this one is cured. Other infection will be on the bones in the forehead and face which makes the patient dizzy.

When you have this condition and you want sinusitis treatment, the best thing you can do is to visit your physician. Let him or her determine first what type you have so that you can well treat it. The most common medication given by a physician to patients having nasal congestion is to take in antibiotics and antiviral. If the symptoms would persist in ten days after the medication is completed, do visit your physician again. There might be some complications in your body or it could be that the virus has become resistant to the antiviral being taken. You may also try drinking a glass of water filled with one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Do this four times in a day and you will observe changes after a week. Also, avoid taking in dairy products. They could add up the formation of the causative agents.
