To Find Silver Lab Puppies Fresno Is The Best Location To Check Out

By Charles Thomas

The silver labradoodle has a lot of controversy surrounding it. The color of their body is the major cause of the controversy. The scientific explanation behind their color is that it is caused by diluted genes. This makes them a diluted version of the chocolate Labrador. Anotehr explanation is that the dogs resulted from crossbreeding Weimaraners. When one needs Silver lab puppies Fresno offers the perfect location to visit.

Just like other labs, these dogs are very sociable and outgoing. They have the same temperament and characteristics as other labs. They have been a family dog to many people for several years. However, originally they were used to retrieve ducks in Newfoundland. British explorers who visited Canada in the 1800s loved these dogs so much that they carried some back home with them.

In Britain, blue labs which Britons imported from Canada were further developed to produce finer features. As such, they are at times referred to as Silver English Labs. The Silver labs took many years before the breed could reach the United States. These breed was first registered with AKC in the year 1917.

After the first registration with the AKC, it only took three years before they started appearing in the US more commonly. Even with the introduction in the United States, these dogs have remained somehow very rare. Their rarity can be associated with the fact that some breeders continue to argue that they are not true labs. Being rare, they cost a premium, with puppies from a responsible breeder going for between 800 and 1500 USD.

Health wise, these species of dogs are like other kind of labs. They are affected by Elbow Dysplasia, Hip Dysplasia and Patella Luxation. The abnormal development in the joints of hip and Elbow is a common condition that affects most labs. This abnormal development, which occurs in the hip and elbow joints is usually characterized by lameness, a lot of discomfort, altered gait, and pain.

The silver color is caused by a diluted gene that also causes a specific condition referred to as color dilution alopecia. Puppies usually inherit color dilution alopecia from their parents. The condition causes thinning and hair loss from the skin. This often causes the body to itch. Abnormality in the hair follicles is caused by the diluted genes, resulting in new hair being incapable of growing back.

Silver labs are highly trainable. When training, they show best response when one uses positive reinforcement and reward based training. The whole family should be involved in the training process. Basic commands like stay, sit, stand, down, and paw should be taught using food treats. One should begin training at the earliest for best results.

These dogs will eat anything since they are scavengers. Unlike most other dogs, these dogs are not choosy with what they eat. Also, they can eat from garbage bins, palms and floors. The dogs are capable of attaining weights of between 55 and 80 pounds. Their average height is around 21 to 25 inches when fully grown.
