By Eloise Hewitt

Many times most silver only breeders of Labradors neglect the health of their Labradors and sadly even puppies. This is done mostly so that they can produce as many silvers as possible also known as color breeding. There has been continued inbreeding in the silver lines and this has made many these labs to develop health issues and also become slightly unsightly for their type. It is therefore advisable for buyers to consider the type of breeders they want to deal with and not just buy anywhere they see the sign silver lab puppies for sale.

The most recommended puppies are the silver factored. The best silver factored however should have either one or both of their parents being non pure breeds. It is very difficult at this point in time to produce the pure breeds but with technology this is going to be made possible in the near future.

To choose the best breeders, it is advisable to choose those that do not only specialize in the rare colored labs. If a breeder works on other colors of labs like the blacks, yellows and the reds this is a clear indication that they are not only interested in breeding the rare colors. This shows that the breeders are not just money oriented but have the passion to take care of the puppies.

The next thing to consider when choosing the breeders is to consider the lines of the non-pure lines that they breed. The more titled the line is then the better. Therefore the breeder who specializes in a more titled line is better because they would be more professional.

Health clearances are also important when choosing a good breeder. Puppy labs are very gentle and therefore need utmost health care. They should be well tested for things such as the elbows, eyes, CNM, hips, EIC and others.

To summarize, the best breeders to be considered are those that have all the above factors in check. They should have health clearance, improved pedigrees and also solid confirmations that they can take care of animals. The genetics they breed in should be of proper quality because it is always better to prevent than to cure.

The Labradors require a great amount of maintenance for them to survive and work better. They should be examined regularly by certified veterinarians and be vaccinated regularly. Some of the diseases that the puppies are supposed to be vaccinated against are hepatitis, coronavirus, Para influenza, parvovirus and many others. They should also be dewormed regularly and have their dew claws removed. They should also have a full health guarantee as part of the package.

The dealers to be given priority should be those that fulfill the above factors. Before taking the puppy home to meet the families it is important for the buyers to make sure that their quality is favorable. There ought to be a guarantee on the sale of puppies so that the buyers can take them back if they have any health matters. They can either be treated by qualified vets or simply be replaced.
