How to Train Your Puppy

By Yvonne Ralph

Dog training is an important part of pet possession. Training your dog how to make a response to certain specific commands and teaching him skills goes a long way to determining the kind of lifestyle the dog will have and the bond it will share with you.

The basic dog training activity involves imparting information concerning primary activities. Dog training essentially starts with teaching the dog to sit, stand, toilet training and the way to fetch things. Communication is the toughest part as the dog would not understand the meaning of words said, use lots of actions and demonstrate to the dog the activities you are endeavoring to teach him.

Rewarding your dog plays an important role in him grasping the coaching imparted. Similarly correcting your dog is also obligatory. Correction can be psychological or physical; the leash may be utilised for correcting the dog - a sharp pull on the leash can teach your dog that behavior is unacceptable. Psychological correction is when you pull a promised reward if the action was not executed properly by the dog.

Some breeds of dogs are rather more easily trained and many go on to be trained as assistance dogs, detection, hunting, search and recovery dogs and seeing eye dogs. These include the Labrador Retriever, German Shepherd, Boarder Collie, Australian Cattle Dog, Toy Poodle and French Bulldog.

Dog training can be either done by the dog lovers themselves or by professional trainers. For the base level of dog training it is best for you to coach your dog yourself or attend some dog training classes. These classes are useful to your dog as they supply some socialization abilities for your dog as well as teaching you the most highly efficient strategies for training your dog.

Pro dog training is mostly only used when the dog is being trained for a particular task or job or to conquer an extremely difficult behavioural issue.
