With Natural Natural Treats For Dogs NY Pet Owners Will Do Their Pets A Favour

By Mattie Knight

Many studies have confirmed the fact that pets are beneficial to the psychological and even physical health of most people. Pets can help to teach children to take responsibility and pets can teach almost everyone a lot about unconditional love. This is especially true with canines. It is not surprising, therefore, that most people do everything they can to keep their pets happy and healthy. Luckily, when it comes to natural treats for dogs NY pet owners do not have to spend a fortune.

Vets and other animal health experts are unanimous when they warn pet owners against giving their animals too many snacks too often. A snack should be a special treat and overdoing it may cause a situation where the snacks become the main source of nutrition for the animal. This is not good for the animal and can actually lead to disease and a host of other animal health problems simply because the pet does not get a balanced diet.

Pet food suppliers all stock a wide variety of pet snacks. However, pet owners should be careful. Many of these snacks contain no real nutrition. They are filled with harmful fats and sugar. There have been several cases of snack brands withdrawn from the market because they contained dangerous antibiotics. It is therefore better to use pure, wholesome and unprocessed snacks. Pets love it and it is good for them.

Believe it or not, but most canines simply adore organic vegetables and fruits. Butternut, apples, carrots and even small amounts of cabbage are always received with gratitude. These are healthy snacks. They help keep the teeth of the animal clean, freshens his breath and provide vital nutrition. This type of snack can be given frequently. Just a little experimentation will quickly reveal his preferences.

Raw meat can also be an excellent snack, but it must be served in small portions. It is always important to remember that a snack is not a meal. It is simply a way to reward good behaviour and to augment the diet of the pet. Meat snacks should be lean with no fat and bones should be removed.

One of the most beneficial and healthy snacks that can be given to a dog is an egg every now and again. The egg can be raw or scrambled or even boiled, but no additives such as salt or oil should be used. Eggs are very high in protein and pets love them. Experts recommend that no more than one egg a week should be given as a snack.

There are some snacks that should be avoided at all cost. Chocolate, alcohol and caffeine are all all extremely dangerous and should never be fed to any pet, especially canines. Garlic, grapes and onions can also be harmful. No canine, regardless of breed or size, should ever be given a snack containing fine bones.

Every pet owner wants to spoil his pet. Snacks between meals are fine but they should be given only on occasion and it is never a good idea to give more than one snack at a time. Well meaning pet owners do their beloved pets no favour by feeding them junk, even if they adore the junk they are fed.
