Simple Tips To Train Your Chihuahua Effectively

By Vincent Soriano

Dogs are actually known as man's best friend and this is a fact. Whether you have a big or small dog, it does not even matter since they are known to be loyal to their owners. You can also find tons of different breeds of dogs and one of the most popular and cutest breed is the Chihuahua.

Just like any dog breeds in the world, Chihuahuas are also very brave and loyal to their owners despite being small in size. They can also be trained in different ways like other dog breeds and they can be fast learners compared to other dogs. But, before deciding to train your Chihuahua, there are a few things that you need to keep in mind beforehand. Below are some of the important tips that you need to know before you start training your Chihuahua.

Start with the Basic Rule

The basic rule is to make your dog think that you are a leader and you can only accomplish this during the first 16 weeks of their life. If you are planning to buy a dog from a pet store, it is best if you will ask them about the age of the dog before you decide to buy. If the dog is only 4 months old, this will not be a problem but if you plan to train it, a younger one is better to buy.

Rewarding

The main rule in training your dog is to give rewards every time they accomplished an order from you. If you want your Chihuahua to learn fast, you need to be very strict on your rewarding. Do not give any rewards to them if they did not successfully accomplish the orders but every time they make it right, you need to give them their rewards and do not forget it. When you do this, they will always look forward to learning new lessons from you.

Your Chi's Social Life

Always keep in mind that dogs also wanted to go outside so it is better if you will not confine them inside your house. You can also use this as an opportunity to teach them the proper behavior when outside the house. When the dogs feel that they are accepted on the family, they will not be hard to handle when training them so always take them for a walk or bring them on family outings.

Keep it Healthy

Your dog needs a lot of nutrients on their body and there are websites that can provide this information to you. It is also advisable to avoid over feeding your Chihuahua especially before you start the training because when they are already full, they will not be looking forward on the rewards that you will give them.
