Top Tips For Having A Well Behaved Dog

Dog training builds a healthy relationship with you and your pet. Training can be stressful at times, but learning as much as you can beforehand can be extremely helpful. Arm yourself with tips from this guide and you will surely be able to train your dog the right way.

Keep your dog well exercised and active. Dogs can become bored easily. A dog without interest in what you're doing is more difficult to train. Your dog needs proper exercise to function to his highest potential. Go on runs or long walks together.

You must be willing to invest the time required for practice if you want your training to be successful. It may take 25-50 tries before your dog understands a command consistently and thoroughly. Try to maintain as much patience as possible, for the sake of your dog.

Make sure that your dog stays awake and active. Boredom often befalls an inactive dog, or he may find himself in a "mutt rut" with a dull and listless routine. Dogs with no enthusiasm will be harder to train than active dogs. Your dogs will obey more quickly if you keep them well exercised. Go for a long walk with your dog.

Training your pet to roll over very easy. Just remember to have treats in hand. First, make sure the dog is in a laying position. The next step is to hold a treat close to the floor by the dog's head then continue to move the treat over his head until you reach the other side. They'll follow your treat with their nose which will cause them to roll over. Upon seeing him roll over, issue the command. You can then repeat the command to the point where he rolls over without the added incentive of a treat. Be patient with him when you are teaching this because once he learns it, he can be quite the show-off amongst your friends.

It is easy to train a roll with treats. First, make your dog lay down. Then hold one treat near his head and near the floor. Pull the treat over the dog until your hand is on the other side. Ideally, your dog will use his nose to follow the treat, rolling his whole body in the process. Whenever you dog does roll over, actually say the words, "roll over." Continue to do this until your dog actually rolls over whenever you say the words without using the treat. It may take a while to get to this point, but you will be pleased if you stick with it. It's an impressive trick.
