This is a common breed of dog. They are known for being intelligent, alert and loyalty. They make great companions. At some point in time, they were only regarded as guard and police dogs. Most are medium-large size and feature a square build with a short coat. They are compact and athletic, known for their endurance and swiftness. Shelter dogs might act in different ways based on the past owners or the circumstances that led them to be in the shelter. This may impact how well they adjust to new owners and homes.
