Great Skin Care Tips for Acne

By Harry Barber

How to prevent acne with simple skin care techniques

Avoiding acne problems is easy as long as you follow some simple skin care techniques. Here are some techniques that may prove useful. Try to follow these suggestions so you can prevent acne.

Washing your face regularly

Wash your face thrice a day using a mild cleanser. It's also important to keep your face clean after you exercise. Some people think they can stop acne by scrubbing their skin with detergent soaps and rough scrub pads. Scrubbing will only make your acne worse. Also, after washing your face, don't forget to rinse your skin.

Avoiding acne while shaving

If you have acne, you can choose to use safety or electric razor when shaving. Sharp blades are advisable if you're using safety razors. Before applying the shaving cream, it's important to soften the beard with soap and water first. If you want to avoid nicking blemishes, then shave lightly and only when it's necessary.

Avoid skin contact

Unless you want to develop scars, avoid squeezing, picking or popping your zits. You should also refrain from always touching and rubbing your skin.

Sunburn and suntan - the downside

People that want to treat their acne are sometimes using medications that can cause sunburn. Sunburn may redden the skin and suntan darkens the skin, and they also make the blemishes less visible and makes the skin feel dry. However, these benefits are not permanent. Also, too much sun exposure can cause rapid skin aging. There's also the risk of getting skin cancer.

Acne and cosmetics

When it comes to acne treatment, certain changes have to be made, including changing some of your cosmetics. Make sure your cosmetics are not oil based. You'll find it difficult to apply foundation evenly during the first couple of weeks. That's because using topical tretinoin or benzoyl peroxide can cause your skin to become red or scaly. When you use oily hair products, it can cause closed comedones once it spread over your forehead. Choose products that are labeled as non comedogenic. Still, there people who affected by these products and still get acne. Make sure you choose your makeup carefully.
