Shoulder Pain Treatment At Home

By Adam Ternor

When you spend some hours doing physical work, the pain you feel in your shoulders is rotary cuff pain. The pain is because the rotator cuff is being used all the time, although it may appear stationary. Improper posture while working or typing can also result in strain and even chronic pain if not treated early.

You will also experience rotary cuff pains if you lift weights during exercise. The rotator cuff, if you didn't know already, is the name for the group of muscles and tendons that are vital to the stability of the shoulder. The muscles in these parts are prone to soreness especially if you do not do lots of stretching. If the four major muscles or any of the tendons of the rotator cuff are damaged, it often results in chronic pain and partial loss of mobility.

The most common causes of rotator cuff issues are sudden stresses generated during sports or when you try to lift heavy weights. Injury resulting in minor tears often heal if not repeated. When there is damage to the rotator cuff inflammation and fluid accumulation is common, calcium deposition in the joint, over time, also results in arthritis. Rotator cuff pain relief can be quickly felt after a batch of arm and head stretching.

Instant rotator cuff pain relief may be felt when you stretch your arms all the way up, even if you are in a sitting position. Or, you can fold one arm at the back of your head while letting your hand hold onto the upper arm of the other arm from the back. Hold the position for twenty second and then repeat for the other arm. The rotator cuff muscles becomes stiff and accumulate lactose when held in one position. For fast rotator cuff pain relief, you may also take naproxen and ibuprofen.

Shoulder pain treatment can be done at home. For one, you can opt to do hot compress on the aching area so the muscles will be relaxed. A hot compress and rest helps remove the lactic acid that causes muscle soreness and fatigue. You can also wear a sling on the shoulder so you can rest your shoulders, but should not wear the sling for too long because the joint muscles will also become stiff and may require effort to regain the lost range of motion. Injuries resulting from sudden stress are generally extensive and you should consult a doctor.
