Why Choose One Of The Double Doodle Puppies For Sale

By Donna Davis

Buying a purebred dog does not ensure you get what you're looking for. This is true also when looking to buy one of the double doodle puppies for sale. You should be cautious and examine all considerations. True, the breed is pretty much obedient and lovable, meaning they will be a good pet. But, you must investigate the characteristics and any problems you may face in owning any puppy. Make sure you are ready to take on a puppy.

The mix of a Goldendoodle and a Labradoodle, bred together, produces the double doodle, which is not a pure breed. The Goldendoodle is a mixture of a poodle and a golden retriever. The Labradoodle is a mix of a Labrador Retriever and a poodle. It has a number of names that describe the same sweet dog.

The mix that is combined in the breed is not always between a 50% purebred cross. It may be 1/4 between two and 1/2 another. The temperament of the dog varies with the percentage of each breed, based on that breeds characteristics. So, it is advisable to know the mix and the traits of the predominant breed in the mix.

One of the most important things in choosing is its temperament. The puppy, however, does not have a fully developed temperament. The best way to determine it is to examine that of its parents. A visual inspection of both parents, where possible, is the best way to determine if your puppy may be acceptable.

Since a couple of the breeds involved in breeding this dog have some negative traits, a good idea is to be aware of them and make sure the breed balance is optimum. For example, the poodle and the Labrador demand lots of attention. If you are not willing of giving them that attention, don't consider this dog. You will want a dog with a stronger mix of Golden Retriever.

The poodle in this breed might make it unsuitable for children. Poodles demand a lot of personal attention. They can see the child as a rival and will bit and wrestle with them, much as they do litter mates. They also may demand attention and if not given because children interfere with that, they will yap incessantly until they get it. That can be annoying.

Unscrupulous breeders may misrepresent the heritage of the dog you are considering and will not always be truthful about the living conditions where they were birthed and raised. When a particular breed of dog becomes popular, puppy mills pop up in an attempt for others to get a piece of the profits. This often leads to less than desirable conditions in an attempt to save profits. Check thoroughly before getting your puppy.

You rarely find a double doodle in a rescue shelter. These are used when the owner decides to give the puppy up for some reason or another. Sometimes it is just a matter of someone who shouldn't even have a dog. But, many times it is the result of someone being misled about the dog in question and they are so dissatisfied with it they decide not to keep it. That is why it is so important to investigate fully before getting a puppy.
