Your mind your body

By Heidi Delaney

There are opportunities everywhere, at home, while on vacation, in your cars, at the grocery store, in line at the post office...yet most people are too distracted from your feelings by constantly checking your email, Face book, working long hours, and over scheduling yourselves. "When would I have time to just stop and listen to my feelings, please, there is barely enough time to stop for the bathroom," Julia tells me. Julia is not alone in her sentiments, albeit many wouldn't have put it quite that way, most will agree there is just not time to "smell the roses". Unfortunately what Julia and most people don't understand is that when you don't slow down but continue to run at full speed eventually your body is going to say enough with the push, push, rush, rush and you will find the body shutting down; for some this could mean depression, for others flu like symptoms, many simply become more and more irritable to where no one likes to be around them. It happens gradually but eventually the road to success doesn't become fun and then all you are rushing towards is more and more work.

Today I want to talk about those people who give their all but burn out before they have created success. The number one reason is so simple that it might confuse some of you but the truth is you have to slow down to run faster. When you are running at a rats pace you are not in-tune with your body, you have tuned out the monitoring process, giving you limited access to the information that can make you successful. Don't kid yourself and think "I don't have time to slow down, I'm young I'll catch the details of success when I reach the top, or what I do to my body right now doesn't matter." When you think these thoughts you cede control to a fictitious power outside yourself. What you do does matter, every step you take gives you great control for the next step, to ignore what your mind and body are telling you and just charging forward may gain you quick results but will those results last?

Everyone knows it is easy in our media-oriented society to be led along and gain some success by following the trend, but what everyone might not know is that a truly successful person is not led by trends or anything for that matter, a successful person comes by directions and satisfaction on their own by listening to their own gut, setting goals, and pushing forward with what they know from their inner self that will make them successful.

The body is connected to everything you create, so if you are striving for that next job offer, looking to improve on a fitness level, or do better within a relationship, shouldn't you take care of the body that you are asking to be amazing and perform for you day after day? When you allow yourselves to listen you create more space in the mind for energy flow bringing awareness in all aspects of your life. Your ability to problem solve becomes easier, memory retention increases, creativity is renewed.

One more success tip: Don't forget to sleep! So many of you don't get enough sleep; did you know that 45 percent of business ideas and solutions to problems are worked out in your dreams? If you never reach a deep sleep you can not benefit from natures simplest ways of replenishing your body and sorting out the mind. If you allow yourself to set boundaries around sleep then you can protect yourself in almost any other area. So put down that cell phone, unplug the laptop, turn down the lights and get some much needed zzzz's.
