How To Choose The Right Burberry Dog Harness For Your Special Dog

By Joanna Walsh

The pet accessory market has experienced a huge growth in popularity recently and designers are hopping on the bandwagon. Now, it is not uncommon to see pampered pooches of all sizes sporting accessories such as a Burberry dog harness or a designer outfit. If you want your canine friend to have designer accessories, here is how to choose the right size and how to find these beautiful items quickly and inexpensively.

While you may be tempted to get a new puppy lots of accessories this may not be the best idea. Most dogs will grow quite a bit from when they are young until they reach adulthood. Some larger dogs can put on several pounds in as little as a week or two.

You also need to consider what kind of dog you have. Some dogs have heavier coats and may not need the same kind of warm clothing that canines with shorter fur would need. Since you do not want your dog getting overheated, this factor may influence what kind of accessories you buy him or her.

One popular accessory is the harness. This is a fantastic way to make sure your canine is controlled when you are out walking him or her while making sure that he or she does not have the ability to pull or be choked by a collar. Some models are designed to help discourage a dog from pulling. Looking at the different styles that are available and knowing which features you want can help you narrow down your options.

Once you have an idea of what you are looking for it is time to go shopping. Don't be afraid to look online as well as in high-end pet stores. They are more likely to have designer accessories than some larger chain stores would. The advantage to looking in person is that you can try items on your pup and see which sizes fit them best.

If you want to make sure you are not spending any more money than you have to, it is important to measure first. You want to make sure it is loose enough to be comfortable while not being so large that your pooch can simply slip out and wander off.

If you are buying from a website, pay attention to measuring instructions. Most harnesses will require two measurements. Use a cloth tape as these are flexible enough to remain flush with the skin. You will need to find out how big your dog's chest is as well as how large their girth is. Look at diagrams to know where to place the tape. Also pay attention to how many inches to add to any measurement.

Shopping can be so much fun for you and your pup. Just remember to choose wisely and let your dog get accustomed to any new accessory. They may be resistant to wearing it at first but with time and treats they may really love showing off the items you buy them.
