Adopting Labradoodle Puppies As A Pet

By Linda Kennedy

Labradoodle is a cross breed dog of a Labrador retriever and a poodle. The beauty of breeding the two is they produce puppies that have a good temperament and are trainable like the Labrador and have a coat that does not shed much like the poodle. This in turn produces Labradoodle Puppies that are hypoallergenic with a gentle nature.

The crossbreeding of the Labrador and poodle was first and still commonly done in Australia. The cross breed produced can weigh up to 65 pounds when mature. They are not very big animals and the tallest they get is two feet tall, from foot to shoulder. Their life span is twelve to fourteen years.

There are two kinds of Labrapoodles. The first is the original crossbreed of the Labrador and a poodle. The second is the multigenerational which is a breed of two Labradoodles. The most preferred is the crossbreed as its genetic write-up has more of the Labrador and Poodle DNA where the Labrapoodle gets most of its characteristics. The Puppies vary in size, weight, color and type of coats. So you are able to select a puppy that fits specifications of your dream puppy.

There are mainly two types of Labrapoodle puppies. The main type is those crossbred between the Labrador and the poodle. The second is known as a multigenerational. It is a breed between two Labradoodles. Most breeders prefer to breed the original or main puppy because the Labrador and poodle genes are stronger. Remember that the Labrapoodles good nature is from the Labrador while the allergic friendly coat is from the poodle. Therefore inbreeding weakens the genetic aptitude.

When animals with genetic disease are crossbred, the diseases are more likely to transfer to their puppies. It is therefore important to request for the records to the parents you wish to adopt from to ascertain there are not any issues either physically or health wise. This is the reason why the genuine breeds are preferable compared to the multigenerational Labrapoodles. When the parents are a Labrador and a poodle and records show they are in good health, it is certain. On the other hand if you breed two healthy Labrapoodles, they may develop genetic health problems in their puppies due to inbreeding.

Another benefit of a well trained Labrapoodle is that it can be a good assistance dog which can help people who are disabled. They are not only the eyes but the ears of their owners. They ensure that the person they are taking care of do not get harmed not just by things but by unscrupulous people.

Their coats also vary quite exponentially and are divided into three categories. The first is the wool coat which has tight curls that are very soft. Second is hair which is quite similar to a Labradors coat. Last is the fleece which soft and lavish with a wavy look.

The beauty of Labrapoodles is when you want to adopt one; you can select an exact kind that would be the perfect match for you. You can select the type of breed you want, genuine or multigenerational, the color, size and the type of coat. To add to that, Labradoodle canines are good natured and trainable, so as they grow you could have them trained into what suits you be it a family pet, companion or a guide.
