Information About Purchasing Cavachons For Sale

By Janet Morgan

Adopting a pet is an exciting adventure but not one to undertake without some thought. Things like picking an animal that fits well with one's living conditions and personality are important. There are certain factors which should be known before searching Cavachons for sale.

Many people are so excited about getting their new pet that they make the mistake of choosing one based solely on its appearance. While looks are certainly a major part of a dog's appeal, it is equally important to take into account things such as size, temperament, grooming, and health concerns, as each of these can impact a person's ability to properly attend their pets. Knowing what to expect before bringing the pup home can make the transition much smoother.

Designer dogs are the result of breeding two separate types of purebreds to create pups that possess certain characteristics of each parent. They can be a bit more difficult to obtain because the best mixes are typically found in litters of the first generation. One should also be aware that these dogs are not usually permitted to compete in official kennel club shows because they are not pure.

Another thing one should realize when adopting a designer dog is that there are no set standards for these animals. This means that because they come from two separate breeds, there are certain characteristics that tend to be more prominent, however this is not always consistent. This is why first-generation litters are always recommend, because this particular type of mating tends to produce the most desirable results.

When it comes to the Cavachon, the breeding is between a purebred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a pure Bichon Frise. As they are both of the Toy category, their offspring will only grow to a maximum height of fifteen inches and weigh no more than twenty pounds in adulthood. Their tiny stature is one thing that a lot of people find really attractive - especially those whose homes have limited space, such as apartments.

The coat of a Cavachon is usually silky and soft, with a bit of a wave, though it is also possible that it might be thick and curly. Both textures are considered as hypoallergenic since after the first year of puppy fur, they shed very little and have almost no dander. People with allergies, and those who do not care to clean up dog hair, tend to find this an attractive trait.

These pups are well known for their loving nature and high levels of energy. They make wonderful companions because they eagerly give and receive affection, though early socialization is a must to achieve controlled behaviors. While they will bark when strangers are present, they should not be used at watchdogs because they make new friends very easily.

Their typical lifespan is between 15 and 20 years, so any potential pet owners should understand that this is a long term commitment. Their health is generally good though one should be aware that the dog may suffer common health issues for small breeds such as heart murmurs. With regular care they should live a long and healthy life.
