Use Automatic Horse Feed Dispensers For Easier Equine Rearing

By Carl Roberts

There are many chores that come with managing a stable of equine species. One has to feed them and water them. The bedding has to be cleaned out. One also has to inspect the animals for possible signs of illness or injury. There is also the required amount of exercise each day. These chores can leave one feeling tired and worn out. Would it not be nice to get help on at least one chore? Enter stage left, automatic horse feed dispensers. It is a machine that releases feed to the steed on a set timer. The machine can be mounted or propped up on its own.

With one of the chores crossed off the list, time is freed up for other stable chores. One still has to check on the steed during feeding time but that should not cost too much time. One can also save money on hiring an extra hand to help with feeding. The money can go towards pampering the animals for better appearance.

Vets advise that horses be fed small and frequent meals in the course of the day. These meals have to be consistent. One cannot afford to keep the animal guessing on the timing for the next meal. It is stressful. This machine will adhere to the frequency programmed. With this option, both animal and owner are happy. Animal gets its mixture of grain and hay while owner focuses attention and time on other activities such as keeping a clean stable.

The smaller more frequent meals mimic a natural grazing environment. This is better for the gastrointestinal health of the animals. Incidences of colic and ulcers become less prevalent. The consistent feeding times give the animal better conditioning. Better conditioning is good for appearance.

While one has to spend money to keep things running smoothly, it is imperative that they save when possible. Any endeavor requires that money be saved even in the insignificant of ways. Using this machine saves on food. There is less wastage because the meals are just enough. With savings of up to 30%, the stable can utilize some of the funds on other activities that require more funding or even use it to pamper the animals.

A key quality for a good machine is its capacity. The machine should have the capacity to hold more than just enough. There could even be additional pockets to tap into when the person responsible for refilling is late or held up. One should, however, make sure not to let it be depleted. While it is meant to ease the burden of stable responsibilities, oversight is still necessary.

One should pay close attention to the material of the machine. The machine should be weatherproof. Most machines are made to fit internal and external feeding spots. The forage should not be moldy or dusty. The machine should not allow these conditions to prevail. It should be water and dust tight. The external shell should be durable and impact resistant. Horses are animals after all. Bumping into the machines should not render them useless.

Before committing to buying one particular machine, one must read all the reviews. One must study its operation. They must know the kind of machine that would best suit their stable. The decision to buy is not one to be made in haste.
