How GMO And Non GMO Grains Began

Getting a food has been a way for survival for many beings in the world. The need for nutrients and nourishment is essential to living beings, even plants need it to survive although they do no seem like it. Because of how much man needs food, not only for survival, but to also satisfy the hunger, the desire to consume, man has made many methods to get as much of this resources as possible.

Due to growing populations and less time to gather crops and hunt animals, people began to keep livestock such as pigs and cows and plant vegetables for food sources. With this, GMO and nonGMO grain Connecticut were created in contrast to each other. The different ways and beliefs of both have been prominent and has garnered much attention in recent years.

A genetically modified organism or a GMO for short, is an organism that went through the process of being genetic and biologically engineered. The sole purpose of this action is to obtain and pass on some things that have superior genes and pass those on. The process would make the chosen animals and plants have a higher chance of being superior to others.

In history, the first time humans had done a type of genetic manipulation was done with artificially selecting animals and plants. This is done by selecting animals and corps that have better health and superior traits that make them desirable for breeding purposes. By breeding these animals together, a genetically superior organism is created.

Thus selective breeding became a testbed and was the precursor to modifying food genetically. These was very common through out the centuries until DNA was discovered in early 1990s. With its discovery, modern concepts of genetic modification or GM became an idea that was realized. Through this and the advancements of genetically altering techniques, being able to alter DNA and genes directly in food became possible.

As 19836 came around, a big thing had occurred. By placing antibiotic resistant in tobacco, a new progress in genetics was achieved. This crop became the first genetically modified to ever be created and successfully produce. With enzymes to help out in production, GMO food production was approved by the Food and Drug Administration or FDA 1988.

A recombinant chymosin as made and approved for countries uses during the 1990s. The enzyme was made of complex rennet, making cheese that is extracted from a modified cows inner stomach linings. There are also experiments that had bacteria produce the chymosin itself. The milk inside will colt making cheese curbs.

The Flav Savr was a tomato was a genetically modified vegetable that was the first of its kind to be approved and released. The tomato, approved in 1994, was created by Calgene. The propose of it was to create a tomato that had a delayed ripening period by giving it a specific gene and thus giving it more left in markets and would last longer before it rots.

The first country to ever commercialize transgenic crop was China. In 1993 it introduced to the public of virus resistant tobacco. It has been researched that GMOs pose no risk in consuming them and so long as it is within FDA policies and approved, there should be no problems at all.
