Four Types Of Dog Breeders, One To Stay Away From

By Thelma Kent

You have decided that you are looking for the best puppy for your family and you do not want to track down the rescue dogs. You are looking for a specific breed and a specific size. The man y dog breeders in New England can help in this task, however, you need to make sure you get hold of the right type.

The several different types of dog breeders begins with the small hobbyists. These people will have a few dogs that they love and take good care of. They will have all of their shots and will be part of their owner's family. These dig lovers will breed them once or twice a year and promote the puppies in a largely word of mouth marketing system.

The next category would be the professional breeders. These will be people who have a business license and status as such with all taxing authorities. They will have the same conditions as their hobbyist competition and will make sure of the placements of their puppies. They may also allow the dogs to come back to them if the new owner can not keep them for some reason.

A category that will interest many is the back yard breeder. They are a private individual who has a female dog and access to a male dog. They will breed this member of their family every once in a while, usually on a per order basis. They do take care of the health and well being of these dogs and make sure inoculations are up to date.

The last category is the large scale operation known as a puppy mill. These, all to often, do not care for the dogs they use for the constant breeding that happens. The health of the producing dogs is not taken care of and they very rarely are healthy. These puppies are sold exclusively to pet stores fro unsuspecting people who want a nice puppy.

That last category is one that all people should know about and not participate in this torture of animals. The previous three groups should be looked at to find your next new family member. Many of the dog breeders in new england can help you find the one puppy that will make the connection to all of you and complete your family.
