Traveling With A Service Dog Is Not Hard

By Paula Barron

If you are traveling with a service dog on your next trip, plan ahead and make arrangements on whatever means you will be traveling. This is not hard if you look online and build an itinerary for yourself. You could also ask a travel agent for help in this regard. They will have resources to direct you. If they do not, ask them who they think may know.

If you traveling by plane, the airlines will accommodate you as they have to legally. Take note, however, that some of them do not want to have a dog on flight and may make excuses that are not true to prevent you from going on the plane. Because of this, do not mention that you are planning on bringing your animal until the very end.

These animals are quite amazing as they help their owners to be more self-sufficient and more mobile. These people must work on that as their disability can interfere with this. This can make a great impact on their lives for the better. Without these dogs in their life, it would be very hard to function on a daily basis.

If you travel outside the country, make sure he or she has the proper vaccinations and that the embassy knows you are coming. Make sure you are in compliance with their laws according to their country. You would not want to get turned away at the border. That would not be good. It could be quite devastating since you did all the planning to get there in the first place.

It is good to do a lot of research to make sure everything is done right and carefully. Micro chipping is a must and should be done whether you travel or not. Buying a scanner is not a bad idea since some authorities may not be able to read the one that you have. The authorities usually have the right scanner, but not always. Plan ahead and all will go well.

Elimination is an issue that must be dealt with. It has bad consequences if left not dealt with. Other people are very sensitive with smell and can be offended. Bring materials to clean up after your dog and make sure it is a thorough job cleaning. Plane rides as well as train and automobile travel may be difficult to take him out. Plan accordingly and your trip will go smoothly.

Be sure your vaccinations are all up to date before you travel. This is important for airlines and other pets that may be traveling. Even if your service dog is not in cargo with other pets, he must be vaccinated so diseases are prevented. This is important for all involved. It is legal and also a thoughtful thing to do.

It is not hard to find accommodations if you are traveling with a service dog. Look online for precautions you must take. Do not be intimidated by the process. It is not hard to follow the rules and to have a nice time on your trip because you have peace of mind.
