Finding The Best Bengal Cats For Sale

By Jennie Sandoval

A good breeder of bengal cats for sale will offer many insights into this type of cat as well as lifelong care and assistance for each kitten they sell. This animal is a great and popular pet to have, but it also has its share of problems and issues that owners will need to be aware of before they decide to take one home. A cat that is closer to its wild cousin, the Asian Leopard Cat, will have more problems than a kitten that is more domestic.

This breed of feline is derived from a cross between the wild Asian leopard cat bengalensis, and a domestic short hair cat.The Asian species is where the breed name comes from. They have light, tighter bodies reminiscent of their wild ancestor, usually with a tepid, almost dog-like temperament from their domestic parents.

Younger cats and kittens always love to play, so it is important to have feline trees and toys around the house for them to mess around with. Their fluffed-up tails and excitable energy will make them fun to watch as they zoom around the house. Kittens even play well with each other as adults if they have grown up together.

Coat colors vary greatly, as with any other breed, although only a select few are available to be shown or bred from by national cat registries. This allows for a uniform type and temperament for their lineage. Marbled and spotted coat patterns are all desirable and acceptable. Small kittens and adults will also have light, unspotted or striped bellies that make them easy to tell apart from other breeds.

Between all the different patterns, solid coat colors that are recognized by the International Cat Fancy association are brown, sepia, silver-seal lynx point, and mink. As well as this, some lower-class conformation shows allow long-haired animals to be shown and other colors of the breed.

Newer owners need to remember the different generations of cats and how this affects temperament in their kitten. The further removed from the wild ancestor, the less variable the personality. These cats tend to act more like tabbies and other common, loving breeds. B getting a kitten that is a fourth generation, it still has the exotic coat but without the hard to care for temperament of the wild blood.

Besides the traditional Bengal, there are a few outcrosses that mix their blood with other domestic cats. The popular Serengeti offers the hybrid with a Siamese, which produces offspring that are much like a wild African Serval in appearance, though without dangerous wild blood. The relatively new "Cheetoh" cat mixes this breed with another spotted cat, so that their is more coat variation than normal.

The breeder of bengal cats for sale will assist new owners in finding the perfect animal, taking coat color and gender into mind. Helping to cat-proof the house is something that breeders can help with as well. This breed's rock solid temperament has made it a very affectionate and curious member of the family. Being sure to have lots of toys will keep any Bengal happy in the home.
