By Joshua Allen

Don't let your dog take you for a walk. Make sure you are taking your dog for a walk and make sure he is well-behaved at the same time! This article can help you learn about dog training techniques that every owner should know.

Crate training your new puppy is most effective when you take small steps. First, put them inside with the door still open. When they get used to that, close the gate and give them a treat they like. At first, only close the gate for a short time, and then gradually extend the time as your dog becomes more comfortable. If the dog doesn't like it, slow the process.

Train your dog to remain calm when you walk into the room. Play time is good to have with your pet; however, your dog should remain calm when you enter the room. Avoid acknowledging him as you enter. This helps to maintain a controlled atmosphere.

Give your puppy some toys to chew on so they do not hurt while teething, keep other things they might want to chew on out of their reach! Give the dog one of its own chew toys right away. If painful teething is the problem, let the puppy chew on a wet washcloth that has been frozen.

Provide your puppy with his own chew toys to alleviate the pain of teething, and try to keep other items out of reach. Give it one of his chew toys immediately. Teething can cause puppy's significant pain. Give them relief by letting them chew on a washcloth that is wet and frozen.

Continuously maintain all training that you have done with your dog, and consider adding new behaviors as you go. Many times, owners feel that since their animals have gone through dog training, they can just forget about it. You can encourage your dog to adopt good habits. Dogs, many like kids, do best when they have limits and rules.

Your relationship with your dog can suffer if you don't know what you need to train them. Thankfully, the advice provided in the above article contains all you need to effectively train your dog so that he or she can be a great addition to your family.
