Ideas For Making Unique Custom Dog Bandanas

By Alison Wilcox

It is interesting to see how people dress up their pets in different ways. Most people enjoy creating custom-designed clothing for their canine pets. With so many different materials available today, there is no limit to your creativity. With a hobby store not far, you can create custom dog bandanas for your canine pets to wear anytime they are out with you.

Beginning with the fabric, most people will find that material is available in most hobby stores and general shopping centers. The material is often made of woven cotton, but it is woven tightly enough that it will not be damaged right away. Additionally, the fabric is durable enough to use with glue, brads and embedded fake jewels. The other thing most people enjoy doing is applying felts markers to the material.

A good design method is to use felt markers because they are the easiest to use and cheapest to purchase. Felt markers also last longer during multiple wash cycles. They also come in many different colors and some can even be mixed on the material in order to create new colors. However, some people do not enjoy using felt markers because they feel it limits their creativity.

Other people enjoy using press on jewels. These types of jewels are embedded into the material with the use of a pressing gun. This gun works by in setting the jewel into the material and permanently keeping it there. They can be put into a specific design on the material. Some people scattered them across the material making a catchy, unorganized design. Moreover, the jewels tend to last a lot longer on the material.

Another easy-to-use medium is known as felt glue. Felt glue is used to paint directly on handkerchief material, dries relatively quickly, and remains strong on the material. The other thing with felt glue is that it tends to drive not covered properly. However, it can withstand several washings before it is pulled off.

Tie-dyeing is a simpler method that works relatively quickly, but makes a multitude of colors on the handkerchief. Most people feel it creates loud and colorful designs faster than using felt glue and markers. This method works by allowing pieces of the material to sit in a combination of different paints. When it is dry, it lasts through many washes.

Do not forget that you can also find specific fabric already available in different colors. Some people enjoy piecing together different pieces of material to come up with a unique handkerchief. This method does take some time to do and requires some knowledge of sewing. However, most people can do this relatively quickly and enjoy doing it for their pet.

These ideas are just an example of what creativity can do. When you create custom dog bandanas, you can use one or a combination of these ideas to make yours even better. Some people like mixing tie-dyeing and felt glue to enhance the handkerchief more. Others may use embroidery to sign their name or make a lovely picture on the handkerchief. Use whatever methods work for you.
