Anyone who has a pet knows the great company such creatures can give a person. It is therefore no surprise when people want to create portraits of their pets. This article therefore gives guidelines on creating dog portraits from photos for those people who want to have memorable images of their dogs and want to hang it somewhere.

The first step in having great portrait is visualizing what it will be once completed. With an idea of how the representation will be an individual will work towards achieving it. After visualization, it is good that one considers certain aspects about his or her dog. One of the considerations is how big the pet is and how it looks like. One might be having a large dog or a small one; a working type or a frilly lap one. Considering this will ensure the individual comes up with a good background to use.

Taking good pictures is essential during this process. It is advantageous if a person has a pet that can obey commands as it will be able to maintain a pose and hence a good picture will be taken. When dealing with a pet that cannot take commands, one needs to be patient and not yell at the dog as this would scare it.

During the process of taking photos, one should not give the dog treats like snacks in order to make it stand still. This will lead to the animal looking down and concentrating on the food more hence the individual will not get a good shot. One should therefore have someone help him to pose the pet. When taking the picture, it should be done at the level of the animal, not from above or below. The person will therefore be required to kneel down in order to have a good picture.

The eyes should be the focus when taking the photos. This is because the eyes show the emotion of the pet and a person should ensure that it is not blurry. Another pose should be taken when the dog is alert, when sitting, lying down and standing. Apart from different poses, the photos should be in different angles. After getting the desired pictures, next is finding a frame for them.

In order to have a suitable frame, the person should do some research over the internet or simply get the advice of a professional pet portrait artist. Such resources will give the individual a required frame. One should the print the appropriate photo that will fit in the frame. The image should be large and filling the whole frame not at the side or in the middle as this will not bring out the picture pet.

There are some instances where people print out small photos that end up being swallowed by the frame. This should be avoided. The lighting should also be clear and improved when not enough. As to the environment where the picture should be taken, it can be outside or inside using a quality camera.

These tips will ensure that people create great dog portraits from photos which will be admired by many. In case an individual is having trouble doing it himself, he can get a professional pet portrait artist to do the job. Such people can be found over the internet or through recommendations.
