Sources Of Pollution

By Lianne Derocco

It is well known that pollution is a worldwide problem that many are facing, including the United States. Together we can make a difference in finding preventive ways on how to counter pollution. One should consider the sources and causes of pollution before discussing ways on how to lessen them. Listed below are few of the most common sources of pollution.

One of the most common energy sources on the planet in general is generated by the burning of coal and this takes roughly half of our energy reserves. It should be noted though that the burning of coal is one of the biggest contributors of air pollution in the country. Many harmful gases are emitted from coal and they are toxic to humans and animals and also can pollute water sources A person's health may be in danger with long exposure to the fumes produced from burning coal.

Aside from coal, there are also other factors that hugely contribute to the source or air pollution such as cars, trucks, vans, airplanes and other vehicles. To counter such measures, many states require checks for vehicles to ensure that they meet stringent smog requirements. If your older car or vehicle's exhaust system is not regularly maintained then it may forced into retirement and off the roads. Such preventive measures have greatly helped reduced the amount of toxins released by the exhaust systems of vehicles and as a result, improved the air quality in many states.

Rural areas have less air pollution problems compared to the people living in the city. However, their main problem in these areas lies in livestock waste which also produces a great deal of pollution, especially in areas where this type of agriculture is one of the predominant industries. Sources such as hog waste lagoons and waste pits emit many harmful gases. Furthermore, leaking in swine lagoons can poison the local water sources. This is why this it should not be overlooked and needs to be well managed.

Many scientists are searching for ways to use livestock waste as a renewable source of energy, and the waste also is useful to farmers as a type of fertilizer. Still there are many problems common to both waste pits and waste lagoons, and farmers are encouraged to try using some natural products to solve these issues.

Agra Sphere and Lagoon Agra are such products that use only natural bacteria microbes and no chemicals. It has been tested and shown to be a safe product for both farmers and their livestock. The bacteria work by eating away at waste solids and liquefying waste after being tossed into a waste pit or lagoon The spheres themselves are also biodegradable and no mixing is required, so they are easy products to use. These swine waste products can prevent the build-up of sludge, as well as crusting, foaming and even reduces the odors and flies. Better fertilizers can also be made because the spheres also improve the nutrient value present in your swine waste.
