How To Get The Best Collie Puppies For Sale In PA

By Sally Delacruz

Many people love the idea of owning a dog as a pet. However, for new owners, this may a completely new process altogether. You need to prepare for the reception of the animals and ensure that you have a warm place where it will sleep. The demand for pets is ever on the rise, and it is common to find ads for collie puppies for sale in PA. However, you need to know what it takes to buy and own one.

The collie pups are excellent pets. They were traditionally known to be herding dogs and this practice is still widespread in some parts of northern Europe. This is because they are thought to be very intelligent animals when compared to other dogs. They are also friendly especially with children and can help you with some daily chores.

The main challenge that buyers face is to determine whether the puppy they are buying is a pure breed. The Collie is generally sable and white; white, predominantly white, but preferably with markings; tricolor, blue merle. However, an untrained eye may not be able to tell the difference if there is genetic mix up.

Get recommendations. If you know someone who owns a similar breed, then ask him or her where he or she bought it. You can even ask anyone you come across at the parks when taking a walk with a Collie. This is a good option, but you will still have to assess the facility yourself.

Contact the American Kennel Club. The CK ensures that breeders registered with them provide clients with quality dogs. The mother and father of the puppy are normally coded for genetic make up to ensure that they are pedigree. However, it is wrong to assume that all the animals at any facility licensed by the organization are pure breeds.

Ensure that you have an extensive discussion with prospective breeders. You should inquire about his/her business history and the breed that he/she specializes in. Check their registration papers and their return policies. This will help you gauge whether the individual is a quality breeder or not. You should never order for a puppy before meeting the seller.

Check the qualification of the facility when it comes to breeding dogs. Anyone can breed puppies, for perfect results, a lot of training is required. Each species has it requirements and partialities when it comes to food, living conditions, and training. You have to ensure that the premises follow these guidelines and supply quality dogs to the buyers.

Ensure that you personally visit the breeding facility. This will help you see where the animals live. Check the cleanliness of the place and whether the animals have adequate space for movement and playing. Hygiene is important as it may have a negative or positive impact on the health of the pups.

Make your order early. Many breeders never have the pups ready. Therefore, you will order at least several months before they are born so that you can be placed on the waiting list.
