The first guideline to follow is the physical appearance. It has a double coat with a denser outer coat that is straight and close lying and the inner coat is thick, short and fine texture. The ideal color of the coat is pure white. Its head is proportional to its body with a medium sized well-balanced body, with erect ears. The structure of their shoulder bone and the rear and the front hips have a low angulation.

You should also consider the physical condition of the animal. It is one of the most common problems caused by malnutrition and bad maintenance. Some of the problems are undesirable physical structures, pigmentation and dentition. This way, you will be confident that you are getting an animal that is in perfect condition and well trained. You do not want a pet that has missing teeth or is crippled.

You should also check out other features such as the eyes, the tail, testicles, the size of the ribcage and the broadness of the chest. Make sure that none of these parts is deformed in any way because the dog will be of a low breed. Floppy ears, light pigmentation of the eyes and floppy ears should not be tolerated.

You should also find out from the breeder whether they have been dewormed and had any shots. Let the breeder give you a clear guide on how the puppies have been raised since inception. This is because how it is raised will greatly determine its personality when it is fully grown not forgetting that bored white German shepherds can be very destructive.

Consider their intelligence. German shepherds tend to be very brainy. Therefore, you should also consider providing enough mental stimulation for the furred friend because they are so intelligent. You should note that when they are bored especially when they are young, they can become destructive and rambunctious. You should be ready to provide for them plenty of exercises and interesting challenges for them to be happy.

Take time to check the breeding ground for these animals. You should also survey to see whether the training ground is clean. This is an essential step because this breed tends to be vulnerable to diseases. Furthermore, you do not want to rake a sick animal home, as it will be emotionally and financially draining for you.

Before you purchase you should ensure that this breed is acceptable in your neighborhood or apartment. This is because German shepherds are banned in some areas. Furthermore, one may not get their homeowner indemnity policy if they have this dog. This is because this furred friend tends to have an intimidating appearance. Furthermore, these dogs are quite aggressive particularly to strangers.
