A lot of the products that we use in our daily lives are derived from animals. We may not pay so much attention to it but the foods that we eat, the things we wear, and our most common accessories have traces of the benefits we reap from animal that breeders raise.

The quality of materials made from animal skin for instance depends on the breed of the animal. How it is raised also matters a lot. Among the most marketable animals at present is the Katahdin sheep Kentucky. Those breeders who take care of this group have attested to its marketing value. We have listed some of the things that can be derived from this breed.

First on the list are the top of the line leather. It is not a surprise when many people would look for top shoes or jackets made of leather. Its lifespan and durability is proven to be high. Unlike other types which cannot withstand constant usage, leather is considered to be at the top of its performance. If you are a fan of it, then you should have an idea how well you are getting the best of what you paid for.

Dairy products. If you think that the best milk available in the market can solely be extracted from different cow breeds, then you are wrong. A lot of our favorite dairy products nowadays are derived from sheep as well. In fact some of the globally famous brand of cheese like the Feta and and Pecorina Romano originally came from its milk. Other dairy products like butter and ice cream can also be derived from its milk.

Another products are related to the field of medicine. Sheeps have helped a lot in furthering stem cell research. Also, their blood are highly valuable in culturing bacteria. Scientists are seeing huge potentials from these group to actually forward recent medicinal ventures. The wool proteins derived from them have also been used to device improved medical sutures and bone graft implants.

Fourth on this list is the field maintenance service that they help the breeders at. It comes natural to sheeps to grasses regardless if it is harmful to the field or not. So technically, they take away the hassle that landscape owners have to deal with everytime there is those harmful weeds sprouting all over the place. The sheeps eat them out for good.

Wool. When one starts to talk about wool, majority of the people will automatically associate it with sheep. In fact, it is what they are best known for. From the top of the line wool carpet to the clothing that we wear nowadays, the material is proven to be of high quality. At present more and more alternative aside from clothing are being discovered. Pads made of wool for instance are used in absorbing oil from spills.

Meat. Sheep may not be the major source of our meat consumption but they still amount to up to six percent of it. Meat are very good source of protein and it is a vital part in our diets. The meat derived from this animal are known to be rich in protein and is highly delectable.

Look around you and check some of your most used products. There might be a lot of them made from sheep. Be mindful of what you use. You can appreciate them more if you do.
