TICA Registered Cattery Exhibitor Etiquette Rules

By Ericka Marsh

Cat exhibitions are getting more and more popular these days. It might be a stress-relief for most people. On the other hand, cat owners may find this as an opportunity to show off their very adorable cats. It does not really matter what the purpose is, the bottom line of this particular event is to show that humans and cats have a happy relationship.

Those who are exhibiting at this exhibition have the strict responsibility of adhering to the rules of the exhibition. The rules are set beforehand and must be followed to smoothly carry out the TICA registered cattery exhibition without causing any problems. Here are the simple rules that everyone participating in this event should follow.

First, you have to pay attention to the claws of your cats you want to exhibit. If you enter the cat for the exhibition, you have to make sure that their claws are properly clipped prior to benching. When you fail to clip the claws of your cat, then your entry to this exhibition may subject you to disqualification.

The felines that you are entering in this even must be exhibited properly in the ring. Before the judging as well as during that, you will not be allowed to sit or be near the felines that are entered in the event. No holding or cuddling, basically. They are only permitted to do so when they are given explicit permission by judges.

Another reason why the exhibitors are not allowed near their pets is so that the judges will not have an idea on which exhibitor owns a pet. The exhibitors, in any way, are not allowed to tell the officiating judges which pet they own. Otherwise, there will be question on the fairness of the judging of the exhibition.

In the same manner, the participating exhibitor is also not allowed to signal the officiating judge where his or her cats are placed in the ring. There will be questions on the fairness of the judging when such things happen so this is one of the guidelines and etiquette that must be followed by all participating exhibitors.

Another one that must be followed by a participating exhibitor has something to do with the judging of the officiating judges. It is not possible for the participating exhibitors to ask the judges to have his or her entries be judged separately from regular classes. That would be unfair, after all.

The cats and the people who are participating in this event should have their security and safety ensured. While on the ring for the exhibition, the exhibitors are forbidden from doing anything that may cause physical harm, either to their pets on the ring or to the people who are present in this exhibition.

The pets should be put in the best limelight possible. Thus, it might be a good idea to have a special cage prepared for these felines. When this idea happens to be yours, then you should inform your clerk as soon as possible. Most importantly, make sure that this idea does not cause any inconvenience to others.
