Information About Ragdoll Kittens TICA Registered

By Janet Hill

Ragdolls are one of the prettiest and best natured of all the domestic cat breeds. Like their name they can be easily carried around like toys. They tend to be more playful when young and become very laidback as they mature. If you are intending to show your cat or want to ensure your breeder is reputable then you need to look for Ragdoll kittens TICA registered.

As the name suggests, The International Cat Association is recognized all over the world. It is a registry of pedigree cats and pets alike. It runs and organizes shows worldwide and supports responsible ownership and breeding. The association also works in local communities to give education about neutering and how to take care of your pet. It also supports charities and programs which benefit cats and their owners.

When you purchase a pet that is registered you know that your breeder is responsible and that the cat should be in the best of health. It should also conform to the breed standard if it is pedigree. Pet cats that are registered are also eligible to compete in shows, so even if your favorite kitten does not quite meet standard you can still enjoy the fun of showing.

With three patterns and ten colors to choose from you are bound to find a kitty that is beautiful. Whether you choose mitted, colorpoint or bicolor the fur will be silky smooth to the touch. Despite being semi longhaired they normally shed just twice a year making them reasonably low maintenance. They do benefit from a regular grooming though, just like humans.

With the wide range of patterns and colors you will be spoiled for choice. Every Ragdoll has bright blue eyes and they are all as pretty as a picture. You will have no trouble finding a truly beautiful addition to the family,

Ragdolls are renowned for their large frame and size. Queens grow up to 15lbs while the toms can get as weigh in at 20lbs. This makes them really rather heavy for children to carry and even quite heavy for an adult. Being so docile they do not use that weight to bully other pets and usually live happily with other pets - even dogs!

While Ragdolls have a reputation for being so laidback they can be dressed in dolly clothes, it is worth remembering they are still an animal. They need to be treated kindly and children should not be encouraged to use them like toys. They are, if distantly, related to lions and retain the ability to scratch and bite.

If you have never owned this beautiful breed in the past then your breeder is a great person to ask about all aspects of the breed. Take their advice about training, feeding and grooming. They will ensure you are furnished with all the information you require and be happy to answer questions. Unless you intend to breed you will want to think about neutering or spaying. Consult your local veterinarian practice and then you need not worry about an accidental litter of kittens sired by a random Tom.
