Seeking A Cute Cavachon Puppy For Sale

By Michelle Ward

A dog can be a great addition to any home. They make wonderful companions for adults, and loyal, loving playmates for children, as well as providing them an opportunity to learn about responsibility. But before purchasing a Cavachon puppy for sale, there are some things all interested individuals should know.

It can not be stressed enough just how important it is for a person to know as much about the type of dog they are wanting to own before committing to a purchase. There are so many different breeds available and each one is going to have its own unique quirks, characteristics, behavioral habits, and health concerns. Cavachons are certainly no exception to this rule.

It is important that interested individuals understand that Cavachons are not a pure breed. What they are is a designer breed, which means that two dogs a full blood - in this situation, Bichon Frise and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - are brought together in an effort to create a generation with very particular traits and characteristics. They tend to be a bit expensive and one could be wait-listed because getting a successful genetic blend can be a bit difficult.

With designer dogs, one must understand that while there are basic expectations about the behaviors and physical characteristics, there can be no absolute guarantee that they will be present. The best results are mostly found in first generation pups, though a single litter could yield varied degrees of success. Mating two full Cavvies will probably result in offspring with traits more geared towards one of the base breeds.

Since each of the parents are considered as members of the Toy category, this breed is small, typically reaching a maximum of 13" in height, and weighing no more than 18 pounds in adulthood. Their coats tend to be silky, soft, and thick, with either big curls or slight waves, mainly in shades of brown or white, but they may be other colors as well. They have low dander and shedding factors which are beneficial to those with allergy concerns.

While these dogs are perfectly sized for living in small apartments, they are equally suited for spacious homes with large yards, though they are not built to be outside pets. Anyone considering this breed needs to be sure they have the time to exercise their pup each day because they are quite energetic. Daily walks or playful games keep them both mentally and physically stimulated.

This breed is known for forming intense bonds with people and having huge cravings for companionship, so interested individuals need to understand that their pup will want plenty of attention. Cavachons are quick learners and highly intelligent, which means that socialization and obedience training should start very young. Doing so will have a significant impact on behavioral control.

Before actually entering into a contract for purchase, it is most advisable to talk with the breeder and do a bit of research on the breed. It could be a huge benefit to know what to expect as far as the behavior, grooming, and health of one's new pup. Pets are certainly a pleasure to have around but this step should be taken responsibly.
